It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • I think I’ve begun to adapt to doing very little, however I have walked a little over 5 miles today into Sutton, shopped at the Co-op, explored the cute high street, stopped for a coffee in a spotlessly clean cafe (mostly to use their loo!) and as there’s only an hourly bus service, decided to walk back too. Needless to say a bus went past while I was around halfway back!

Daytime tv helps. I got cramp in both feet though…..ouch! It’s passed thank goodness. Now I’m being very lazy at 3.30pm with a cup of tea!

  •
Enjoy that cuppa and perhaps fish & chips!!

    and some more wine!
sounds great in Goldie and walking. Hope not cold, temperature here has gone down, where’s sunny warm/hot June gone?!

sad to hear of tears but stuff is leaving you and happy treasured memories linger.

  • It’s chilly here too,  around 13° top today. But walking kept me warm plus I’ve brought my little fan heater since I’m on hook up. Cramp has been on and off, thankfully the last time in one leg an ice pack I brought helped. Funny, cold helps me but daughter has to have heat?

I think tomorrow is fish and chips day , hopefully (it’s the law when you’re at the seaside, right?!)

I’m making new memories, but each time I have a glass of wine I toast hubs (I brought a lovely photo of the 4 of us with me) and I tell him what I’ve been doing.

I think maybe a bus into Mablethorpe tomorrow?

  • Just listened to daughters first podcast, and it had the same effect on me that her story has when she talks in those inspiring talks to the medical folk, i cried!

But I cried because it brought back so many memories of how the world could easily have lost our lass, a brilliant musician, voice over artist and inspirational speaker. Bless her!

  • So I did catch the bus into Mablethorpe which seems surrounded by chalet holiday parks and the centre looks tired and run down. I saw a sign for the seal and wildlife sanctuary and asked where it was, 1 1/2 miles. So I walked, watched feeding time, and pottered around, then out again wanting some lunch. Seaside? Fish and chips, surely?

I’d been recommended one in Sutton and had passed it a couple of times. Fortunately the bus terminus proved to be just outside the seal place so I caught one back to Sutton, got my fish and chips and then walked back to Goldie. Another 5 1/2 miles! Phew, think I need to take it easier tomorrow!

  • Ha! I felt so guilty after having that lunch that I had a salad for ‘dinner’

  • Plan for tomorrow has to include a Zoom for choir rehearsal, rehearsal is 1-2. So I think I will just head to the coast locally as there’s a National Trust wild area nearby.

  • Forecast for today? Cool and cloudy again, what’s new?!

I’ve taken to a sweatshirt today, it’s a similar warmth to yesterdays long sleeved top plus cardigan. And it’s June?

Ah well. At least it’s not raining!

  • I got to the wildlife area by the coast, then found out from dog walkers that the scrubland between houses on the very edge of the town, and the coast, used to be a golf course but was bought by the National Trust around 2020 (so during lockdown) and are turning it into differing types of wildlife areas, including wetland (not sure about that at present, everywhere is incredibly dry!)

they have a little outdoor cafe at present so I had a coffee (discount for being a member!)

back in time for a zoom rehearsal with choir, sadly difficult as they were not in the normal area so tricky as the Mike kept cutting out when any choir members joined in, but it was still worthwhile doing.

  • This will probably take an age to post (if at all) but I took a pic of the wildlife area plan…
