It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • It took quite a while to scrape Goldie’s screen this morning in spite of a fan heater going in her for an hour or so.

Very few visitors today, I suspect we will shut a bit early. but I did have one couple who asked loads of questions.

  • Sorry I haven't replied the last few days. I have a big project on. To make 80 small and individual Christmas stockings with 2 Lindt chocolates. We are part of a community Christmas meal and I volunteered. I've made 16 so far and the next 10 are cut out ready to sew. This is one of the first I made.

  • Ah that’s cute,  !

Glad to be home, should have taken the long handled scraper with me (lesson learnt!) as the windscreen was iced up even at 4.15pm!

  • The heating is trying very hard but it’s so cold. I’ve got layers on but also have a throw round me too. Isn’t it strange, as 6 months ago or less we were wilting in such heat!

Son popped into the museum after his teaching and before driving over to the Cotswolds area to rehearse and play a concert, daughter is performing in St Albans with her brass quintet, they are all good friends and she loves this regular gig.

  • Whereabouts in St Albans is your daughter playing? I went to Secondary school (now High School) there.

  • It was the cathedral,  , with the St Albans Bach Choir, she says it’s always booked up well in advance, and is always a gig she looks forward to.
