It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Hi , have fun, sorry you’re feeling a bit down. The photos are amazing. Xx

  • Sorry to hear you have hurt your ankle. They can hurt for a while so make sure you get plenty of rest.

I am on Letrozole which I gather is similar to Abastrozole. I definitely feel I am fighting the flab! I have an underactive thyroid too to add into the mix. Last week I met up with a group of schoolfriend. They are all still stick thin beside me. I felt so fat when I met up with them!

I haven't had the infusions you mention. What are these?

  • Great pics, , and the recipe sounds yummy. But I’m so sorry about your ankle, hope it improves quickly

  • I can thoroughly recommend Ramond Blanc's method. It's so simple and more biscuity in texture.

  • The infusions are Zoledronic acid, given by a cannula. I have them every 6 weeks, apparently in 2023 I’ll have them every 3 months. They are to strengthen my bones as I have metastasis on 4 vertebrae. I feel washed out for 2-3 days after.
pits turned colder today although the sun was out this morning while picking blackberries.
the farm we stay at has a number of apple trees and have picked or shaken a few down, in fact 3 carrier bags full!

I hope to store them but will cook more when home. Someone I know freezes slices, I haven’t tried that yet.

thanks for messages, think it’s the season change too .
    xx

  • Ah Jayhay thank you for explaining re the infusions. I have heard fruit loops mention these but wasn't sure what they were for.

I wish you well with your infusions. it sounds like you need enty of rest before and after each session.

I was really lucky that both of my neighbours were awaybover the Summer and instructed me to use the plums, apples, raspberries and blackberries growing in their gardens. We had some lovely desserts.  Unfortunately, the neighbour's tree has got so large we don't get much sun to our garden even though it is 100ft long. So we are not able to have a fruit or veg plot.

Was going to chill in front of the TV but my husband is watching the NFL. So I am off to bed.

  • That’s a shame about neighbours tree, does that mean your garden is complete shade? That’s such s shame ….Good you got fruit from them tho….

Hope you had a good nights sleep Mag123

Ours is a bit longer than yours so we have areas of full sun, even so our huge oak tree (with a preservation order) at the bottom keeps the end in shade until 1pm in height of summer - where the chickens are!

  • It is always good to have a bit of shade in the height of Summer and really good for your chickens presumably. Are they good layers? Nothing better than a fresh fried egg sandwich.

Sadly the only sun we get is really up by the house where we have taken up huge areas of dead grass and put down a patio. We have a beautiful old wall between us and the neighbours with the tree and this runs half way down the garden. I love wisteria but their plant has got so out of control the vines are pushing the wall over.  Although pleasant enough they are fairly thoughtless. They let the dogs out in the garden at midnight or later and leave them barking for an hour. We had a party a few years ago gor our 25th wedding anniversary and they brought the dogs despite knowing I have cats and at the time a young grandson. One of them wee'd next to the sandpit!!

  • One of the dogs not one of the neighbours!!!

  • Councils have mediators that may help or perhaps CAB? Feel for you as it’s impacting your life and home!!

Chickens - what with age, moulting we may have 1 egg every few days, it takes 25 hrs and enough daylight hours to grow an egg. We’ve had chickens and chicks for 10 yrs, 2 we have now are 7 yrs old now, another 3yr and 2 are 2yrs old. I’d prefer no chickens now as away a lot in Moho- making the most of it before we are past driving Moho!

Our kids are close by so they take it in turns to check on feed & treats.
