It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Bless you, Karen/, sadly I can’t sunbathe due to the brand of antibiotic but it’s lovely seeing the sun again after such a chilly couple of days!

Henry posing in the sun, dogs seem to love the suns warmth plus lying in front of the woodburner fire last night too!

  • A short Henry-walk on my own as they are both busy working, but other dogs about so no pics, he’s now curled up beside me on the sofa.

My asthmatic cough plus a bit of phlegm has eased considerably, so maybe I really did have an infection although mild (not on the phone to the Doc though, ha!) but it’s a relief to get listed as vulnerable as I really could see me going down quickly if I get a Covid-cough.

I wonder if most asthmatics should get listed?

  • I’ve spent a good few hours proofreading a friends second part to his first ‘modern day’ novel. I found 44 problems in part 1, a similar number in part 2. He agreed 40 of my part 1 corrections, the remainder were Americanisms, which of course as unusual to us here, I didn’t know. I do know many Americanisms but there are obviously some I don’t!

Now I have to email him my next list….

  • There are some cute walkways in Market Harborough, I’ve done my duties, walked Henry, daughter had a delivery which I sorted, then went to get rose food and black spot spray, picked up lunch on my way back, now eaten and sat with Henry beside the open back door….

  • Felt really sleepy after my lunch, settled to read and then practice my French (Duolingo), I gave myself the challenge of brushing up the language as I’ve not been to France for a number of years, stayed in Le Touquet for a week with hubs and by the end, got answered in French! So a useful exercise for the little grey cells!

  • Another walk this evening, my, a dog keeps one busy!

daughter had been away very early to London, 5 hours driving in total as the LSO were filming something they had recorded a while back and she was playing principal (she sometimes gets booked as an ‘extra’ if orchestral folk are busy.)

and tomorrow her partner is off to London for the day and overnight. So I suspect I will be doing the early morning walkies, as daughter wants a lie in! That’s fine.

  • Morning walks done, Henry and I are breakfasted and I’ve now got second coffee of the day. Then to take those wretched steroid tablets and anti-b. But my chesty symptoms are a lot better.

it’s not warm or sunny enough to sit out so am lounging about indoors. Many of my aches have eased, perhaps I did need a holiday?!
