It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Hope there are no nasty surprises xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • His previous potassium levels (2 weeks ago) show levels are good.

  • I suspect Hb will be low as he looks paler over the last few days and is a bit more tired. Ah well, that will mean a few more hours stuck in hospital having transfusions?!

  • And it’s definitely a sleepy day today!

  • He woke up and has been busy this afternoon, gave me a hand sorting stuff out, we decided to move the old stair hand rail and think we are going to ditch it. I’ve developed a system of using the landing floor till the last 4 steps, and might enlist the OT to see what she suggests.

The delivery of another stool for himself to use in the kitchen plus a trolley which he can use as a ‘table’ to eat from will mean I feel happier about leaving him to volunteer in the museum and can get going earlier, as I don’t need to ensure he’s breakfasted first!

He’s also been walking around without his sticks, and feels his legs are a bit stronger. I think they are now quite a lot less swollen so are not as heavy to move, which he agrees with too. He’s wanting to do more. We chatted about it perhaps being his ‘good’ week and maybe there will be a pattern emerging, that the week he has the infusion is less good, the week of ‘rest’ is a better week. He says he doesn’t need the notebook to write a pattern down, he will remember!

  • Today he’s not quite as good, but mostly spinal reasons, I guess.
I spent 5 hours in the museum today, and drove the van there! Feel quite pleased with myself!

Hubs has managed getting himself an omelette for his lunch and was also able to guide me in so I wasn’t as close to the front of the house as I had parked before.

Took a pic of a busy bee.

  • Hubs had quite a sleepy evening and is now tucked up in bed. Daughter might be popping in tomorrow so I guess he’s ensuring he has energy to spare for that.

The museum gave me a welcome lift and it was good to see faces i haven’t seen for some months, there have to be a minimum of 8 or 9 volunteer folk to ensure the place is safe to be open, plus someone on ticket, shop and duty manager. Ideally 3 first aiders too.

  • Henry-pup had the tiniest of whines when they left him but had been fine ever since.

Daughters first look at her Dad for a good couple of weeks and she she said he looks better than before.
