It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Hi Fifinet

Scotland is funny like that , we always want to be “home” especially when we are poorly , I was born in Dumbarton and brought up in Balloch , I spent my teens at the dancing in Glasgow at the Electric gardens and the Clouds . I miss the west coast and the the west coast folk . I now live between Dundee and Aberdeen and been here longer than I lived in the west .

Yes growing up ( older) isn’t always fun . As they say your health is your wealth .

I hope treatment goes well for your dearest . I hope you have good friends supporting you both .

    Love

  • Aww !!life is a funny old thing..changes come as the family gets older...inevitable,and often sad,but new beginnings for others!!

And also,yes,...dare to dream again now

  •  and ...I am half-Scottish...does that count??Am sooooooo proud of my Scottish heritage, but am also grateful to my Mum for being very English too.

hmmmm....Christmas lecture...was that the one with Dr Alice Roberts on genetics?I watched some .She made it interesting .

couldn’t watch ABC Murders although am an avid Agatha Christie fan....Somehow the new Poirot has a sinister face or something, but I couldnt watch it.Also read in the papaer that it was altered in facts from the original concept of Poirot. Why do things have to be arted up and over -egged,beyond all recognition??Give me David Suchet and Captain Hastings anyday!!

Thankyou for asking about my hip.It feels better in itself, but then I have been resting since my foray into the town today for necessary shopping, but I have been resting and taking ibuprofen madly.(not too many for all you medics present!)xxx

  • Glad your hip is improving . Haven’t watched that nee Poirot yet xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Hi all,

Violetsniff, glad your hip is improving, most likely the Letrozole then?!

Ive been busy helping daughter make mince pies, then prepared chicken casserole which is in the oven now for dinner, we had a buffet help-yourself lunch, then it will be presents tonight, and a Christmas dinner tomorrow, it’s our delayed Christmas this weekend.

my back gave me problems, curse it! So apart from essential cooking etc I’ve taken it easy and done a few yoga stretches.....

    hugs to you all xxx

Am afraid my hip started up again today and had to climb some stairs and had to take one step at a time...but hey...as I have had it in the past it does seem to recover spontaneously...but I have made an appointment with the GP who is very good with joints at the surgery in just over a week...thankyou for your care...
