But not a very patient one!
I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?
Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that, plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.
By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.
But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

Jayhay , will be thinking of you both tomorrow and hoping it’s not bad news.
Thankfully I feel that at last I’m ’on the up’ in spite of side effects of a second course of antibiotics (rather too similar to the Abemaciclib!), it’s been a long haul! I’ve booked almost a week away in Goldie-van in September which also suggests I’m feeling better!
Daughter is facing a couple of weeks not playing, as she too is going to have an excision biopsy of the neck node which has her haematology specialist puzzled and concerned. Otherwise she’s well and busy, has a new single coming out on Friday!

Still getting awful coughing fits. I’m wondering if that’s the way my asthma is going now…..I’d cut the inhaler doses yesterday which is probably a mistake. Will remedy that today and see how I go. The last was at 3am, woke me and didn’t let me settle till I decided to use my inhaler.

I coughed quite a lot again today in spite of using my normal inhaler more, have emailed surgery asking for a Ventolin one (used to have them but they cut it when putting me onto Fostair.)
daughter had a spare one and it helped! She said my cough sounded really wheezy and after I’d used the Ventolin she said it almost immediately sounded better.

Last night was the first for weeks when I didn’t get woken by coughing, yay! So the use of Ventolin helped. I’ve been emailed back asking for date of birth so at least my email has been read. I also popped it into a request on my repeat meds sheet.
Cough loads easier today, maybe the use of Ventolin has helped me turn a corner.
Been foraging again for blackberries. And an after-lunch nap!

Another night with no cough-waking but foot-cramp-waking instead, grrr! And that’s with tonic and magnesium….. I hope the late-effects radiotherapy clinic appointment, when it comes, will help address that. She said they were thorough and holistic in their approach, I do hope so!
Today I’ve a new place to find, a regular monthly support meeting has moved to a community hall which is free of charge rather than one which charged.

So, it seems I’m not able to get Ventolin inhaler without a GP appointment! And of course there aren’t any available till I ask tomorrow…..
fortunately I have a nurse appointment booked at a satellite surgery so can request via the receptionist there! Hopefully…..!!!

Still going on…..advised by duty GP (who is an excellent one) to start steroid tablets and given another duty doctor appointment this afternoon (to see the one who phoned me last, not so thorough or good) as I’m still coughing up gunk at times and am back on Abemaciclib now. Asthma definitely playing up, found it hard to get relief last night to get to sleep. However, multi-inhaled this morning and peak flow just now was excellent.
Blood test done, FBC and CRP (that’s infection marker)

Phew! Got a prescription for an ventolin inhaler and also a pot to cough up gunk into and get to the surgery by midday either Monday (difficult due to museum commitments) or Tuesday.
To continue with my normal Fostair inhaler too but if I need a lot of ventolin, to phone 999 as I’d need A&E. Hmmmm, been there, done that, a good number of years ago as a result of an anaphylactic reaction to Clarythromycin, don’t want that to happen again as it was horrible, I/V steroids kept me awake 36 hours and then a highly emotional ‘wind down’ afterwards.

I was really shaky with the inhalers when I went to bed and couldn’t sleep for a while (however, blood pressure was fine though heart rate a bit high) but I had a terrific night, best for ages!
Coughed up a bit of gunk, but have had a busy and productive day, even experimenting with the last lot of wild bullaces I picked, I just gently cooked them through with a little sugar, strained through a fairly wide sieve so just the skins and pips didn’t go through, cooled in the fridge, whisked up some cream and whisked that in and have frozen it in a block for ice cream. It might not be sweet enough but can drizzle over some honey if needed.
I must be feeling better, done a load of washing and got it dry and away, I’ve also done some cleaning (I hate cleaning!) plus cut back the blackberry and tied in next years fruiting branches onto the trellis. I also watered that and the loganberries well at the roots, I think they haven’t done that well this year as it’s been so very dry. But I have hopefully frozen enough fruit for use on porridge in the winter. watered the pots, too, from the water butts.
Didn’t sit down apart from lunch, till about 2, but have been inspired to make that ice cream since! hope it’s good, the mix before freezing was yummy.
