But not a very patient one!
I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?
Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that, plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.
By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.
But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

No moomy we don’t stop worrying about them…or a twin…
During the last couple of weeks my twin went through heart surgery and is home from St Bart’s. We messaged while she waited to go to theatre then I was able to get on with my day, I waited with her, then I saw her on the following day, poorly, went up 2 days later obs were bit better still pale. O2, bp & Hb not in normal range. She’s home f had a steak to boost those red blood cell! New valve & 1 bypass. Still pale but more relaxed. I was too tired to visit again, although enjoyed the Elizabeth line straight to near her…
im taking it easy… infusion 2 wks ago made me feel washed out! Hadn’t had that for a while and don’t drive after it anyway.
moomy your body seems to have got used to new meds which is good to know

Hi Jayhay , sorry to hear about your twin, hope her recovery speeds up now….
yes, I am now much more used to the Abemaciclib, the lowest dose seems to suit ok, thank goodness. As for the Exemestane, well I guess it’s responsible for the foot and ankle pains and stiffness as Letrozole and Tamoxifen the first time around, started it off, in the year between things were very slowly improving but I guess I’m being hammered with it again….ah well.

Took Henry-dog for a couple of miles this afternoon in spite of the rain. He was wearing his coat but in spite of that he still got rather wet. Me? Wearing my dryrobe helped keep me dry apart from fringe which has gone all curly now it’s dry!
We are both fed and relaxing now

Had a booked phone call from the surgical team boss to discuss how I was doing and to inform me of their open access policy, open for me (presumably via BCN) till December 2026, so a bit after I finish taking Abemaciclib.
We discussed any possible reconstruction but she said it would likely need to be tissue reconstruction due to the effects of radiotherapy on the skin and tissue left after the surgery, therefore much longer surgery with a lot of consideration of other complications. And although I’ve a very poor body image at present and am awaiting psychology help for that (at present getting psychology help on the ROSETA trial) after the trial finishes, I suspect I probably wouldn’t be a candidate for that. So I guess acceptance of where and how I am left is going to be important.
We also discussed management of scar tissue and adhesions, also of possible permanent numb areas, again I suspect that’s what I will be left with having to accept as a price to pay for being in remission.
In other news, Henry has been noisily on guard as usual. And it’s a lovely day even though still chilly, so some extra washing of bedding is being done, to put outside.
daughter is in the Netherlands, was booked for about a week.

I decided to look into booking my proposed ‘tour de Yorkshire’ and looked at caravan and motorhome club sites for dates, decided to book 3 sites for about a week each, York, Knaresborough and Thirsk. Then booked a night on the way in Derbyshire, and another for a night on the way back, also Derbyshire but a different site. I went ahead and booked them all, so will be away most of April.
Big sigh of anticipation!
