It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Glad to hear that things are settling down . Fingers crossed that they continue to improve. Your new neighbours have already proved to be good ones it seems. sending hugs xx

  • A decent day, just a tiny amount of blood once. He’s much more settled and appetite is back (he’s a nervy chap, always has been, but rather private too, which is what made it hard to help)

I've done quite a bit, delivered spare foods for the food bank (the least I can do to help when people are trying to help us!) And then got our repeats from the chemist, asking a customer to move back as I felt she got too close. Then made leek and potato soup, and then went out to get my feet done (don’t know why I seem to grow so many corns these days!) and made the next for 5 weeks to tie in with an eye check up (I get a contact lens check at the hospital but opticians check other factors) as the Podiatrist works in a room in the optician! )

now back home and the day seems to have gone!

  • Hubs still passing a bit of blood and a very occasional clot; I will wait today but think tomorrow I will phone and demand the GP surgery does something! There’s no excuse for delaying any longer.

  • That’s odd, went to check my other groups in my (small) list and tried to return, had been thrown off?

  • Definitely  this can’t wait. Xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Today I’m going to encourage hubs to phone GP, (not that he will get through) to find out what they are going to do?

last evening a message appeared on social media saying that our local hospital were now offering Covid vaccines to the over 75’s. I assume that means it would be the Pfizer jab. I would think about that IF the second dose would be given at the correct time. But I’m now not sure as the Govt are suggesting up to 12 weeks later. I think I will wait for the Oxford (Astra Zeneca) jab more locally.

  • Hubs had a call from his GP’s secretary asking for a second sample, tomorrow,  I’m not convinced it will reveal anything substantially different.... but have told him to ensure that if he feels a clot, to collect it! His GP needs to ACT! Not pussy-foot around! Grrrrrrrrrr!

I will of course take in his sample, that will constitute my walk for the day! Hopefully it won’t be quite so cold?!
