It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • I wanted to start making Christmas pud but haven’t enough cooking apples so it will need to wait till next delivery.

Today I've done yoga and the cleaning and am enjoying the sunshine!
So glad hubs put on the heat blanket to protect the water tanks, both fresh and waste in the van, last night really was chilly. It’s powered by the solar panel fortunately, so isn’t draining the battery unduly!

  • A film from the students of the RNCM has just gone on line, ‘Mr Blue Sky’ which our lass got heavily involved in. She’s been making films of herself performing for many years, each Christmas she’s done one. She was head-hunted by the RNCM a couple of years back, and since before lockdown 1 began she’s taught on line since she is shielding and rightly so, needing weekly self injections of immunoglobulin. She’s done a number of lectures about remote filming and coached the wind, brass and harp for this particular film and helped the team pull the films together.
    Bless her, so proud!

  • So just over 2 miles walked today, into town and back with heavy shopping! Needed to take hubs’ sharps bin in so combined that with getting essentials like contact lens cleaner, night face cream, cooking apples and satsumas, plus 2 types of bread flour; no, not all in the same shop, 3 different ones, 2 of them independents.
