It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • It’s just lovely having all the family here! Sat in the hall listening to them chattering away!

Fortunately the rain has stopped though it’s still quite windy and much cooler.
At some stage I will post a few pics!

Water was off overnight as apparently there was a burst main but it’s back on again now, thank goodness, as we all need it! I know our van has a decent on board tank but it won’t last too long! And the others haven’t as much....

  • We had an exhausting but amazing time!
Weather was awful to start with but as we had a village hall with hard standing for the vans (and a field for tent/shelters/open fires) to ourselves it didn’t matter too much! The weather cheered up too, lovely views and lots of fun/chatter/late nights ( hence the exhaustion!)

  • And that washing got dry! yay! Bedding ll changed, bedding and towels and fleeces are all back in the van, fridge, bathroom and floor cleaned, all thats needed now is the outside which did get pretty mucky in all that rain on minor roads.

I cleared some weeds that had grown behind the shed too, and did a bit more weeding in the garden. Wore myself out, really, hubs is frustrated as his back is pretty bad. Normally he sits for an hour or so in bed in the morning, has coffee and reads/listens to the news, and while we were away he didn't do that. Plus he'd had a fall while away a couple of weeks before (his wheelchair brakes weren't on and he had had a drink and forgot!) So I think it will take a while to heal again.

I had done so much I sat down before cooking dinner and fell asleep! Ah well, must have needed it.
