It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Hi

just catching up with all your adventures! Am glad you home safe and hope wounds heal quickly. And not so hot, lovely temperatures and breezes end of last week & Saturday. Think it may warm up again tho!

we’re in motorhome again working our way up Suffolk coast, exploring Snape Maltings today.
OH is still waiting for mri results… sil waiting for confirmation of NHL and treatment plan …

    how’s your daughter?

  • Hi  , daughter is going to have an excisional biopsy sometime in August. I think whatever it is, seems slow growing. She’s back from Elbow (oddly, in Brussels the same night I was), but home on a shuttle on the tour bus rather than the passenger train, did a concert with them last night in Warwick.

Oh and at last I had my mammo result, all ok, phew! Report was written on 1st July so a good 3 weeks.

  • Wretched cold is horrible, sooo tired, sinuses ache like mad, voice struggling. I’ve come to bed super-early. Borderline raised temp, aches and a bit shivery on and off. Paracetamol (as usual), extra inhalers, vick rubbed into my chest (love these old remedies)

bit extra wheezy, I’ve been mask wearing to try and protect daughter who is here today. That makes the wheezing a bit worse

just hope it improves quickly. Cuss sister in laws sister in law!

  • Sorry you’re poorly now  , not what you need on top of the injuries from your fall. Assume not Covid? Hope you can sleep, horrible with sinus issues. Love and hugs, HFxx

  • I tested when I got home as of course I’m still under a year post-rads and asthma too, and yes, negative, thankfully. But it’s a bit nasty and so annoying. Went to bed by 8.30 last night, slept long but woke around 4, went to sleep again for a couple of hours.

Ah well, will check temp and oxygen sats

  • Picking up a virus is bad luck   I picked up one last summer on India trip and it felled me for a week yet I was ok when I travelled in January. Due to travel again so hoping for better luck this summer. Taking a covid kit with me !! Hope your sats are ok. Keep catching up on sleep/taking it easy. Good your mammogram was ok.

  • on the path along the River Alde to Snape Maltings. Windy but no rain, good long walk as tide in & had to walk on road a bit.

  • Ooh love that walk  ! We go to Suffolk at least once a year, Snape Maltings is just a few minutes away from where we usually stay. Orford and Aldeburgh are also on our essential visiting list. Just a lovely corner of Suffolk. Enjoy! Xx
