Just thinking ladies, as we are all going through much the same journey that we should have a thread on here for crafts. I am sure there are lots of you knitting, crocheting, sewing etc to keep the dreaded side effects at bay and help us cope day to day.
I personally knit and have posted on here some of my knitting. Would be nice to see/hear what other people do. We could share pictures, hints and tips as well
So I will start with a couple of things I have done in the last few days.
This is my slouch hat that I finished on Friday night. Will be wearing it for the first time today!!
This was on the needles saturday night ......
And finished saturday night. A little headband/earwarmer for my granddaughter.
I am now off to have my PICC line inserted ready for 2nd round of chemo tomorrow (!!!!!!):)
Hope to see lots of pics when I come back!!
Have a good day everyone xx
I looked on the site for the Persian blanket pattern - looks like it's done in 4 ply - is that what you've done it in? Disappointing as I don't really like 4 ply - it just takes TOOOOO long!! I could try it in DK I suppose, but the hexagons would be quite a lot bigger! Decisions decisions.
As for the legwarmers, I did about 20 pairs and my friend did the others - I took them to appointments with me - easy pattern for doing during chemo and for those LONG hospital waits that sometimes happen in this game! They knitted up pretty quickly, which was a good thing...
Love everyone's work - what a talented bunch we have on the site!!!
Lidl are selling knitting/sewing gear from 13th .... includes, pom-pom makers, circular needles and dpns .
“ The only constant thing in life is change “
The site also has a "worsted" version. When you read that, you see it can be made in either 8 ply (dk) or 10 ply (don't know what that's called in the UK)
If it was made with love it is perfect,!!
so warm and cosy-looking xx
BUMP
Dusting off the sewing machine there is a quilt to be finished
Leolady56
Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x
I've got one of those Leolady56 You could come and finish mine off if you like? I bought some fabric squares which came from Hawaiian shirt offcuts when we were on an Hawaiian cruise a few years back. Made the main body of the quilt, but it was too short for my bed. So I've had to get some other fabric to make it bigger! I've tried to do a sea and beach feel to the top of the quilt and a black sand and red for the volcano on the bottom edge. Just got to add those to the main body, then back it all. But I'm lacking the inspiration to continue at present!
Actually thinking about it, I've got to go out and buy 3 sets of curtains for our caravan today. They will all need altering to fit the windows in the van, so I thought if I buy them now, then they might be ready by the time we are allowed back on site in March! So that's the next month sorted sewing wise!
Well done (“BUMP”)...(I was wondering whether you were trying to tell us something....then realised you were just bumping it up to top..love doing that with posts myself sometimes)
Making your quilt will be really therapeutic!!
Made one for my sister and her hubby and they tell me they have got it out every year...(I did pad it slightly)when winter comes...
makes it all worthwhile....xx
I have just been to Knit and Natter...and took my “mending”They dont mind...I just love sewing rather than knitting and there are some lovely ladies there. One in particular wears pale blue glasses against her white perfectly manicured hair, and fab clothes ...she always seems to look out for me,I love her she is so unique!!xx
