Walking back to Happiness

Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  •  I love a jigsaw....got one to do but just cant get into it  at the minute... the table has lots of papers strewn over it waiting for attention so no room.

  • , feeling better today thank you, but still pacing myself. I think the Botox is kicking in now, though not as good as it has been in the last. Still time though, early days.

Had a lovely walk today at Pennington Flash, via a model railway exhibition. (DH's main interest) Wnet in all the bird hides and saw a kingfisher! DH got a photo of it. So thrilled, have only seen 3 before ever.

    Opera group rehearsal tomorrow.  Xxxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • How fab,....what an interesting time. When my twin was home from abroad with his adopted daughter we visited our Grandma’s old Village and went to the railway station(featured in “Goodnight Uncle Tom”)and there is a river running by.We had sandwiches beside the river and then...we saw a Kingfisher!!!We had never seen one before either!!the colours were marvellous, but he was just going about his business, looking for fish, unaware of his beautiful coat xx

  • ... pleased you’re pacing yourself. As you say early days for your Botox so it will probably improve. Kingfishers are so Bonny.

I got out for a walk, locally... longer this time ...I aim to do at least an hours worth, preferably 2

Hope your opera practise went well

    xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • I got taken for a mile walk last afternoon once the daughter had left to get back home; will no doubt get taken for a couple of walks today, yes we have sons dog! He’s very determined and won’t go along walks I decide, all four paws dig in and he refuses to go, so funny! I wanted to go along our old railway track yesterday, but no; he decided otherwise, so he was on a shorter lead instead, walking alongside the road!

  • Today’s walking companion, surprisingly hard to take photos while controlling a dog! 3miles done, so mild!

Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x

  • ... a lovely place can be found anywhere. Had a shorter walk today locally and a stroll along hospital corridors and car park. Very chilly this morning but hoping for a sunny day tomorrow.

  • Lovely looking dog  Do you take treats with you? I find they help encouraging dogs to do whatever you want to do.  My dog will never refuses any walking route, but often refuses (ignore us) to get back into the car at the end.

No pictures, but my walk yesterday started at a tea room in a garden centre, then 45 minutes through some woods.  Completely new area to me, despite only be a 15 minute drive away, and it was lovely - great views and lovely late afternoon sun.  Must explore more new areas, good for the spirit

Sun is out today again  - yippee xxx
