Walking back to Happiness

Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

    • Rugged Northumbrian coastline. A 45 minute walk to the castle.A climb to the top of the tower and a walk round the grounds to the end of the promontory. Then a 45 minute walk back. Three hours of walking and some very sore feet and achy hips and back later.

    Happy Sunday everyone xx

  • Love the mad Match hares  ! And what dramatic photos  as well as a very long walk, hope aches have eased today. How lovely to be near such great scenery.
No long walks in last few days but clocked up a few miles with dog walks and taking car for MOT! Walked into next town, sat in nice cafe with a cuppa, then back again. Not a very scenic route as mainly by road but got a few photos from the path by the road. Love to all, HFxx

  • Love the pic of the moody clouds. Very dramatic Happyfeet1.

Off to Alnwick Gardens and the Treetop Restaurant today. Second part of our Christmas present from our eldest child. Really excited.

  • Enjoy the castle and gardens  we love that area I like to wander Alnwick and visit the Barter bookshop for a browse and cuppa . We have a week booked at nearby Beadnell in June as we at a wedding in Newton Hall ..after looking at cost for overnight at hall it was cheaper to stop for week nearby and gain a holiday. Although it only 1hour 15 mins from home it means we can explore the greater area .

yesterdays castle photos very dramatic it looks like Dunstanburgh lovely walk

  • Lovely walk at waterpark this am. Warm in spite of rain, able to sit outside and watch birds.Lots of good recordings. Trying to distinguish calls of all the various tits, not easy! Saw a pair of nesting swans. All you can see on the photo is a white blob! Xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Lovely to see the swans nesting  . And hope your day trip went well  , what a great present!
Dog walk today yielded Mr Heron just down the road, haven’t seen him on that stretch of the river before. And a host of daffodils from a path beside some rescue horses. No Nordic walk for me tomorrow as hubs has Covid. I’m negative so far but will not risk passing it on. Hey ho!
