Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

Just done my walk around the block - only once today (half a mile) as it's cold and it made me quite breathless. No piccies as there was nothing nice to take.

I'll find a more entertaining place to walk tomorrow and see what I can do!

Lovely day despite the early frost and chill - lots of signs of spring out there!

    Hi Ladies

hope you are all well. Could I please join the Walking back to Happiness. I sit at my desk all day but can try and manage the walk back to my tube station after my day is done.

It is cold out there though.

  • Well LL I’m in too. I do manage 10,000 steps most days around the house but haven’t been out walking for a while.

Starting tomorrow I’m going to walk up to the village shops, don’t think the cats would appreciate me dragging them up there so will just do it on my lonesome.

    LeoLady,

What a brilliant idea. especially with Spring around the corner to get us motivated if we can. If not on those 'grotto bag days ' we can look at the pics and think perhaps tomorrow or next week.

Here is a picture of my walk last week in between the rain.

Poppy and Douglas happy to rest with me whilst OH is off taking pics of some wildlife. Got home and did nothing though. 3 miles and I was pooped.

Woo hoo for all your efforts. If it is one step, one hundred steps or a thousand we are moving. Tomorrow add 1,10 or 100 more stepRelated image

I left hubby climbing the ironing pile - 4 weeks old eeek - and I sailed off into the sunset.

40 mins later and soup plus recovery time. here I am. Light of heart and mind.

But my first thought is: 'This is what I used do, this is how I used to feel each day.'

    Take care

PS my next venue is France and possibly will have grandson -Zippy - with me.

Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x

Lovely walk in sunshine along mudeford quay.  Smell of seaweed and isle of Wight in the distance.  Very good for the soul (,came home and braved the shave,)

    Hugs to all

  • Great to get out and about today.  Nearly an hour walk with my doggy companion, although only 2.3 miles covered as stopped to blether to another couple of dog walkers - which is nice in itself to get a bit of connection and adult conversation instead of staring at the 4 walls.

  • Update: Muppet took one look at the weather and did a sharp about-turn! Sensible kitty ... So I walked down to town and picked up a book and a lovely pair of boots from the Red Cross shop - a whole 15 minutes' walk! Thanks again for the inspiration - I will try cat-walking again tomorrow!
