Well. Welcome to this thread.
You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.
This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.
It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.
The idea is that you can do any of these or none:
Well here goes.
Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.
Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.
PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.
Good on you ...
Does this count?I went to gym this morning and did half an hour on bike and rowing machine doing first level calorie burn as need flat tum and put on bitofweight at sis’s xxx
Oh !and did you know that if you have clinical probs where youneed to lose excess ...well lets call it cuddliness for want of a better name...(I did due to high cholestral, and lack of mobility etc)...that there is a scheme which gives you half off gym memebership if you are referred by your GP?well thats what I did anyway...and now I am carrying on,now I feel the benefits of it...trainers so friendly and we have a fun a bitof banter...xx
Leolady56 sorry no idea with me trees.....nattering to much to, with friend not her dogs!
Violetsniff walking is walking, well done. Like idea of cheaper gym membership too. Is that any gym or does GP have to refer to specific ones?
Thanks Jacmatholmad...yes they have to be chosen by GP unfortunately....there was me wanting one with swim pool.......
It’s ABSOLUTELY P@@@@D IT DOWN ALL DAY!
Still been out for 3 hours with waterproofs head to toe! Now back “home“ with dry clothes on warming up with a cup of tea and a Welsh cake.
I started taking my tablets last night. Is anyone else on anastrozole? I woke up this morning and expected to have grown an extra head or something!! Why does all this have to be so scary? The side effects sounded horrendous when I read them last Thursday so I decided not to take them straight away as I was going away on holiday the following day. So, now I’ve forgotten most of them, I thought I’d better start taking them - we have no choice really do we?
Rant over!
Hi all
Just a note about the half price gym scheme - depends on your local authority - some fund it, some don't. Brilliant idea if you can get it as you can be referred to trainers who have experience of rehabilitation. I think it's usually the gyms that used to be the authority - run leisure centres - maybe not.

Hi as ronstar says you need to look at your area.
Some schemes have been in place for years as GP exercise referral programs but may have snazzy titles like Move to Improve. Some have specific conditions for referral, some more general including stress and anxiety.
Facilities vary depending on the participating venues and not all services may be accessible via the scheme but can include pools. The schemes usually run for a number of weeks with hope that you will be motivated to continue afterwards.
It may well be worth looking at gym or 'wellness centre' ordinary membership in your area....yes the Local Authority or ex LA centres as concessionary membership may open up a whole host of opportunities like dance, bowls etc
All this from me, laid on the sofa exhausted from sleeping all day!
Take care

By next Thursday I should be lapping the pond. It's a lovely big pond - actually looks like a small lake and I'll certainly get some pictures to send. LOL Yes, we're still in FL and will do my best to bottle up some of our famous sunshine for you chilly gals! Yesterday it hit 80 degrees here and was absolutely marvelous!
In the meantime till I join you all in our everyday strolls, I'll be your cheerleader. Rah, rah you are the Champions! Good job ladies! xxoo Mira
