Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x
Hi Jbee66, I've only recently joined this group, they are a funny and positive group I haven't had many conversations yet as I'm constantly on a rollercoaster of emotions up one minute and down the next , but I do think itss' a normal thing as none of us want to be going through this journey but we are all in the same boat so to speak! I'e had my operation to remove my tumour and all lymph nodes and I have the chemo on 16th which is another hurdle to get over, which to me I want to start it as then we know it is killing any possible stray cells and kicking it's ass so to speak but I'm struggling with the hair loss situation which is just another hurdle i suppose that we have to knock down until we are completely free of this monster! Big hugs im here for you with everyone else if you need to talk! Deb x
Leo no chance sorry, would take me all day to get to yours from the far north, and I've only declutted my 'beauty' drawer and I'm already feeling tender in the ribs
I could send dh, but as his level of cleaning house only seems to extend to hoovering, you might be writing your adventures in the dust still!
Looks like I'll be doing the dusting and bathrooms here too, washing the car is obvs more of a pressing cleaning job than the house, of whom he'll be first to complain that house is messy/dirty
Sigh
Better get back to it whilst the iron is hot......or not as the case may be
I had my mastectomy in July last year and sadly they also found two tumours in my lymph nodes although there was no indication on diagnosis. So I’ve now finished chemo and I have my second op tomorrow (8th Jan) for full node clearance. To say the need for this op has been the thing that has got me down the most is an understatement! I approached my Onc about the POSNOC trial and that I would prefer radiotherapy. He dismissed that option immediately saying the trial was completely flawed and many other Oncs felt the same and that I needed surgery :-(Â
I haven’t regained full function of my arm since the first surgery and it is still swollen with fluid so I’m worried I’m just going to get lymphodema straight away. I’m also gutted that I’m going to have to go through the recovery from another surgery all over again and that this one is more painful and harder to recover from. I need radiotherapy so I know I have to be able to move my arm above my head comfortably for that! What is everyone’s experience of recovery from this vs mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy? Any tips gratefully received!Â

Dear Jackie (aka Boudicca1970)
I just read your post about your surgery tomorrow and wish you well. I hope everything will go smoothly. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Stay strong. Do not allow all the worries to drain your spirit.

Hi Jackie (Boudicca 1770)
I had lumpectomy and SNB on 29 Nov and then full node clearance on 27 Dec. So day 11 of recovery for me. The node surgery has def felt like a bigger op and recovery slower but that said I only needed pain killers for coulple of days. My arm still feels very numb like got a bag of sugar in my armpit but its more a wierd annoying feeling than painful. Managed a day out with my little girl yesterday and was little tired and achey by late aft but nothing major. Mobility wise I cam raise my arm almost fully getting bit looser each day. Im pottering about doing lught jobs around the house and just about to go for couple of mile walk. Do feel the need to rest more than first time around and has some long afternoon naps this past week but just working on the do a bit, rest a bit kind of approach. Hope it goes smoothly and you ate soon home resting.
Joanne
I've only experience of the mx with slnb which is what i had in novemeber, so still earlish on in recovery from that, JammyR however has also just had a full node clearance so she may be in a better position to advise how that has gone for her so far?
Ha Jolly, just seen your post must have been typing at same time!
Hi Jackie
I had Lobular breast cancer and the tumour and 11 cancerous lymph nodes removed 15th Nov. It was more uncomfortable than painful, better once the drain was removed. I now have full movement and no pain. I start radiotherapy in a couple of weeks.
Good luck for a speedy recovery
Carol
