So in 5 days time I have the operation to remove the tumour - randomly known as Ian.
NEVER feel that you're wasting the time of the breast care nurses to ask questions and get things checked out - that's what they are there for!
If you have had a full mastectomy but it still looks like you've got a part boob, then it may be a seroma forming, and that may need to be drained. It can make the op site and drain site painful as everything is stretching to accommodate the fluid.
I would definitely phone the BCN asap and see what they say - you may need to see someone before the 11th to see if drainage is needed.
In the meantime, it is important that you continue with the exercises as far as you can given the pain as it will stop your shoulder from stiffening and hopefully to minimise any cording that might occur.
Let us know how you get on!
Hugs to you
Thank you so much I will ring them on Monday and carry on with the exercises. I wasn’t sure if this was normal but I will get it checked out x
Hi hun, I had some tenderness around where my drains were removed but the surgery site was not painful at all as it was numb. I did get a Seroma but I am sure you will know if it's fluid because it glugs when you move like the sound of a hot water bottle.
Definitely call the BCN then at least you will know.
I agree with cath and ali, best to get checked, half a boob from a mastectomy sounds a bit too much to be just post op swelling, could be either seroma or haematoma forming.
Hi gang!
Sorry I've been AWOL, just catching up on posts. Been really busy at work and whatnot and full of cold so not been on here much. Already feeling bit anxious about mammogram on 21st...keep thinking they are going to see something and tell me there and then 4 days before Xmas!
Anyways just wanted to send our lovely lots of good wishes for Monday and a very speedy recovery.
Leolady56, jacks77, , , Deb09,Jacmatholmad, Aspen....hope you are all ok, think about you all lots. 2019 should see us all putting bit more distance away from the rubbish we have dealt with this year.

Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x
Thank you for asking leolady56.. I am seeing the breast cancer nurse tomorrow and she will tell me whether I need it drained. My skin is very sensitive all around the wound as if the nerve endings are on the surface.. I am sure it will settle down though in time x
Rosie x
Good. And no playing it down. The nerve endings possibly are on edge, it proves to be an issue and when mending . They are seeking paths to mend , that’s my interpretation . So ease off on the exercises for now

JammyR - Well I've been for my mammogram today, the first time I've been back to this part of the hospital since I was diagnosed 12 months ago so brought back bad memories! Having said that I got it done then waited for 15minutes before being told it was all clear so quite relieved. The fun doesn't end there though as my 3 year smear test came through for tomorrow so I will have had a full m.o.t top to bottom quite literally ! Still waiting for the oopherectomy but I'm told it shouldn't be too long now. Xx
JollyG - I hope all has gone well today xx
Roseken1- likewise hope things are sorted soon and you recover soon
Leolady56, Jacks77, Aspen, Jacmatholmad, Bigguy, Jbee66, Aliblue- Hope you are all well and ready for a better Xmas this year, hugs to you all Deb xx
