The operation

So in   5 days time I have the operation to remove the tumour - randomly known as Ian.

Why in the last few days have I become incredibly tired and emotional ??
Did anyone else feel the same?
  • Can relate to your feelings re RT.  I have a had a few tearful moments and whilst it is physically easier than chemo its mentally demanding. I particulary get upset looking around the waiting room as everyone is so much older than me. It does sort of become routine though as the days go on.

You are doing better than me as I am nowhere near even thinking about going wigless! Just do what feels right on a given day and with time I guess we will all start to relax a bit more about it. I wakw up fretting about going back to work in Sept...do I go wigless or not then. Ages away but if I can find anything to worry about I will.

12 RTs done for me. Boob ok for now. My arm is a touch sore but then been painting the fence so that isnt helping. Had first 3 days of tomoxifen and no side effects so far to note...hope it stays that way.

Pretty heavy going at home with mother-in-law staying. She is obviously up and down and needing a lot of comfort. So between taking care of her, RT, endless housework, school runs, DH getting on my nerves I am just very tired and flat. But looking foward to end of RT on Friday and Libby breaking up from school soon and hopefully some more relaxing times.

    Take care ,

    Joanne

Wow you have so much going on at the moment I would not worry about going wigless at the moment. September is a few weeks away, hair will be full coverage all over but just short

So glad you got out of hospital in time to watch the footie.

To everyone else I wish you all well

I have been very very sore after rads and have not been able to put a bra on for 5 days, so yes you guessed it went shopping without my boob on, did get a few looks, but hey OH was ok with it, so no hat or wig and no boob.

  • Mmmmmm sorry ladies but I can only see my posts on this thread again!!! I can see what you write on the email but then when I get on here they’ve gone again so can’t remember what everyonecis writing!!! Will try and post pic of what I mean.

PLEASE just get this site sorted out once and for all tech guys and gals. Xx

  •   You can see it’s just my posts and all the bits in between are missing x

Weird have you tried deleting  cookies? Old ones stored can occasionally cause conflicts with website page loading, it prob isn't but is always worth it as a first step to routing out issues, that's assuming the system will let you see my reply of course.

It really isn't practical to smoother ones self with insect repellant everytime one steps out the door, or even bed is it?

Seems last couple of days everytime i wake up/go to bed there's another bite to add to my collection, honestly don't get why I'm so tasty, dh and kids are nibble free, not to mention I'm the one who keeps getting stung by nettles too. Honestly this attempt at trying to enjoy life normally again isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Right off for shower get dressed and see how many are on the back of my leg thats just started itching like mad

    Yours itchily

  • Aliblue - Im with you on the post rt front! My chest is red and mega itchy its driving me mad and no bra here either for the past few days as the bra material has rubbed onto the skin near my armpit which was radiated so a lovely sore graze in the armpit area too! Aloe vera eases it a little but the heat sets it off!  Good for you brave lady, sod everyone else as long as we are comfortable in this weather thats the main thing! Big hugs Deb x

Jacks77- This site is really annoying the hell out of me, ive had the same issue it only shows my posts unless i search through to find others and every time it takes me back to the very first post on the thread! It really needs sorting out as it does make it an effort that we dont need at the moment as we all have enough to deal with and it should be easier to speak with you lovely lot! The good news Jackie is i finally have stubby short eyelashes and eyebrows Yay!! Not enough for mascara yet but so glad they are coming back, big hugs Jack xx

JammyR- How are you doing lovely, think ive lost some posts so forgive me if ive missed ypurs, this site is bonkers and i dont know what im doing on it but i know im not receiving updates or posts! I hope you are coping ok through your incredibly tough time and rt is going quickly and smoothly! My dh had awful news too last night, last week his cousin was diagnosed with cancer but it was so widespread they didnt know where it had started, we think he just ignored the symptoms, dh sat at the hospital all last night as there is nothing they can do but make him comfortable so dh is struggling today! Freya has an award ceremony for her sporting achievements this evening at school  and is being given the award by olympic medallist Anna Watkins so hoping it might take his mind away from it for a little bit anyway! This disease seems to touch everyone but we are out the other side now and have kicked it to the kerb! Big hugs to you Joanne xx Debxx

Leolady, Bigguy, Aspen, Jacmatholmad  hope you are all ok lovely ladies xx

  • I have always been the one the critters munch, sting, nibble and indeed feast off. An anti histamine daily tends to keep down the severity. Have a try but check that's ok with any other meds you are on

    and

Yep funny how we almost miss the regularity of it all. Knowing that we are getting active treatment somehow makes us feel we are still fighting the BBBBBB. Both nearly there.

Blimey ...... sorry to see you've been in Hotel NHS again. Shame we all don't get a reward card. We could use the points at a shop of our choice for keeping the NHS moving along and helping the medics practise their skills.

Gentle hugs to all of you.

Well everyone. I am laid up and sat prone due to a totally knackering day keeping a 5 yr old birthday boy happy yesterday!!! Plus a hubby who insisted I made a right turn against my better judgement. And a trip of 50 mins became 2hrs!!!!!!!! I was driving. I smiled about it all and sweetly said WTF!!!!!!!!

I may not move from the settee today. Just sit and watch tennis and footie. Sore boob  slightly and notably nipple alert. Think the RT is working it's way systematically out of my boob.

The site is still manic....... the poor Admin Team are aging and greying by the minute. Do complain it all goes to the CEO in numbers of complaints about each area. So if she sees online community is high she will step in

    Well, need to move.

Hugs to each and everyone of you

    Lindsay

  • Hi all lovely people,

not posted much recently with the problems the site has been having but have been trying to keep up to date with wpeveryone.

sounds like a few are suffering with the after effects of rads and I’m sure this weather is not helping that either. Keep up with the creams and cold showers also good. Unfortunately my post rads effects have turned into breast lymphedema but hoping to have caught early. This diagnosed by a private lymphedema specialist. Still persevering with the NHS but to be frank every time I see someone they put a longer time frame on “oh it’s just swelling from radiotherapy will be a few weeks......then 3-4 months and latest is 1-2 years!” So NHS has me booked back with onc in August where hoping they will finally decide it is lymphedema and refer me appropriately coz I can’t afford private!!

a cream my rads team gave me for sore nipple was IntaSite, looks like your skin is peeling when it dries but it’s just the cream, really worked for me.

and how’s the tamoxifen/letrozole or other lovely alternatives  going ladies? I’ve apparently developed a lovely new side effect of increwsed urinary frequency.....woohoo! Have now been prescribed more pills to help with that. Off to gynae consult next week but GP reassured me today so hopefully consult will be on same page!!

So my kids finish school today (bit early as they’re building a new school block on site) but they’re off to Germany Flag de at crack of dawn for 4days. So I’m making most and have a fun night at theatre with the lovely tomorrow then off for a girls weekend to Birmingham! Husband all on his Todd bless him! I’m sure he’ll love it actually.

enjoy the football tonight....it’s coming home!

    Jac x
