The operation

So in   5 days time I have the operation to remove the tumour - randomly known as Ian.

Why in the last few days have I become incredibly tired and emotional ??
Did anyone else feel the same?

Yes i did have a sentinel node biospy at same time as there was some concern at time of dx biopsy/scan that they were looking a little larger than norm even though PTs rarely spread via lymph system.

Just got to wait it out a couple of weeks and see what comes back after their meeting, if anything at all.

Well I'm off to get measured and look at some bras today, hoping that Selema/Signa doesn't make an unwanted appearence whilst heading into town, in a LL knicker style scenario. She was certainly moving around somewhat whilst i was doing my exercises before.

I don't have to walk up a wall, seems funny how different areas also have different physio exercises.

I too would say hopefully your twinges are due to having worked the area, i had a couple of days like that last week when i was a lot sorer than the previous day/s then after a couple of days it settled again until the next time.

My plan is to put feet up and watch the rugby later on today.

  • Good morning ladies.

It’s a lovely sunny day here at the moment, hope it’s the same where you are.

Lindsay thanks for the advice, my breast is really hard, definitely warmer than the other one and a bit patchy red so I will definitely ring my BCN tomorrow.

Fireside reading sounds amazing to me, I can actually totally lose myself in a good book. I do think I had better get dressed today though and at least try and make myself look half decent. My lovely Mum and dad are coming to see me today. My dad is 79 next month bless him, they have both been an amazing support for me.

Joanne, please please don’t worry about the surgery, I know that’s easier said than done but you will be asleep in seconds. I always think the worst bit is waiting on the day, questions and lots of them, asking your flipping name and D.O.B. a thousand times, you will be glad of the sleep trust me!!

Regarding clear margins my ultrasound the day before showed a 1.7cm tumour, when it came out it was 2.7cm and he told me prior that he would take a 1cm borderall round. So in total it’s about 5cm.

What you need to remember is, that is actually very small in the scheme of things, sort of golf ball size. The measurements are diameter at the widest point so you see our tumours are tiny compared to some ladies.

I don’t have “ample boosamage” and I can’t see any difference in mine as such, also the scar is actually really small and already is practically invisible honestly!!! Also my scar is not actually where I could feel my tumour it’s much more hidden in a bra than I expected.

You should be home the same day but don’t worry if you’re not, it can actually just depend on what time your surgery is, nothing more than that.

Hope that’s not too much info for you but in essence what I’m saying is, it is much less scary than you are imagining now, trust me.

The huge bonus is your tumour will be out and can’t do you anymore harm, the relief will be so worth it.

Enjoy your romantic couple of hours together lol. I will be on tea making duty later, can’t stand the stuff myself but my parents couldn’t survive without at least 5 cups whilst here this afternoon. Yuk!!!

Have a lovely day all of you beautiful ladies Jackie xxxxxxxx

Hope the girl - Selema/ Signa sits nicely and doesn’t peek out! Or indeed plummet unceremoniously.

Good luck with the bra measuring. I treated myself to that experience as though the fitting was free, I then needed a mini mortgage for the bras I put. I should have taken my dad’s advice: If you need to ask the price; you can’t afford it!!

Could be an afternoon or rugby for me too. Enjoy a good broad shoulder and a muscly thigh. Other half no longer able to supply that look.

  • Hi Mr Sox

Yes I'm from up North - West Yorkshire.

Good luck for your appointment on Thursday. Hope the news is positive but for sure you need to make sure they listen this time around . I guess Drs will only ever want to make judgements from a clinical perspective but there is so much more to all this BC nonesense than that.

You take care and everything crossed for you x

  • Mr Sox

    Woo hoo and welcome

What had happened is I now have the Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel son Mr Soft doing the ear worm thing

    Am I jam and Jerusalem?

    Am I jam and learning?

Well I’ve had one attempt at jam and even the field mice turned their noses up. In fact a fix once treated a failed pavlova with equal disdain.

Now I think I’ll keep you guessing!

I’m actually retired  - early but only by 2 years.

What a total utter bugger for you and the family. My other half had a scare 3/4 years ago but as he has had 17 hip ops and a triple heart by pass , I stole his thunder and got the Big C.

Teenagers ah yes what a treat it is. I once went into banshee mode with my 2 teenage daughters  yelling ‘ You didn’t come with a @@@@ manual.’

The eldest replied ‘ And neither did you!’ In a calm collected way. Mass giggling ensued

Bringing up sassy confident kids had its payback

There are groups for other halves on here guess you might know that already.

Well we share 30th as results day. I’ll be thinking of you lad . It will reet grand to see more posts from you and Roland’s escapades will be appreciated.

Keep your end up young un

  • Jackie and Lindsay -  just to say thanks for the advice about the operation, just the reassurance I needed. Actually can't wait for Wednesday now, time to get rid and crack on!

I've just had a lovely long snooze (the excitement of Aldi must have been too much!). My little girl has been super good all day so going to go put myself at her disposal now and play with her. Hubby doing pie n mash for tea then it's Strictly  time!
