  • Eyyy up my duck :)  I will confess to watching Corry - not religiously though and it’s getting less and less with the story lines. My watching it goes back to ‘family tradition‘ and my Mom watches it - so it helps if I know what is going on. As for the others, I can’t be watching them, there is a lot of shouting, dark tv screen, quiet depressing story lines. Saying this, Corry is going this way - if it continues I’ll be watching less.  Mind you Emerdale is more light heated - I think.

I’m apologising to to anyone that enjoys the soaps - variety Is the spice of life :) x

Other than this I don’t ‘normally’ watch much tv at all (I say normally, because just lately I seem to be watching daytime telly - very naughty!’

i think tv has lost its way - we have the  presenters on so many shows, regardless of if they are good. Why they don’t let others less well know people present - so we have variety and paid at a senslibel rate!

I use to listen to music - can’t seem do it at the moment as it can really upset me or lower my mood. I listen to talk stations LBC been a favourite during the nighttime hours. Now get this mrsox - I’ve started to listen to classical music when trying to work (no one would believe this haha).

I’ve got a ‘cross stich’ cat that I’ve been doing for....... 10 years haha - I will get it finished :)

    I‘m waffling xxx

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x

As f emerdale , id rather take me toe nails off we a rusty fork. !!!!!!!!

  • I don't watch telly either very often. The only shows I really like are Masterchef UK and Doc Martin. Occasionally I'll catch something himself is watching on NHK (the English language Japan channel) and get sucked in but that's rarely and always a doco. Far better things to do with my time!

    Ooh mrsox the rock chic!

Err ...that toe nail n fork thing...they would put that on telly... Probably in a context where you were voted in or out or made mayor or learnt toicesjate underwater or something : )

Ooh I am in bath n there is folk on radio 2.

By virtue of it coming on whilst I in bath other times, I have caught brass bands and organ music. I wouldn't have sought these out but got into it in small doses n now I hear they ate to be bin'd.

No doubt replaced by more repeats or more of what is already on.

    Cheers

So not all is lost !!!!!!!

  • Don't have any exotic oriental connections ShimmeringUnicorn. It's just that Asia is on our doorstep. Think travelling to Europe - You can do the lager lout Spain thing in Bali through to the highly sophisticated culture of Eastern Europe (Japan) and everything in between. Flights are pretty cheap and, apart from Japan and Korea, the hotels are too. You can stay in a 5 star in somewhere like Bali or Thailand for the price of a cupboard in London - you get used to the luxury lol. And everywhere you've got great food, interesting culture, fab scenery etc etc. - I'm addicted.

And MrSox. I wish I'd thought of the henna idea - I'd have done that for sure. I went out bald everywhere anyway but hennaed would have been even better.

What about Masterchef Australia? I love all Masterchefs myself, even 'celebrity' using the term very loosely indeed! I also like Masterchef The Professionals.

I'm feeling quite pleased with myself. Had my first chemo this morning. Was really worried about side effects, but not too bad at all - nausea, bad headache, bit achy and super tired (slept all day), which is why I'm awake now!

Did a good deed (I hope!). Young girl, mid 20s, with her parents, just come in for the chemo film and tour of the unit. Was extremely nervous about cannulas and veins. Decided to approach her (something I would NEVER normally do), asked if she'd been told about a PICC line, she had and asked if I knew anything about them. Proceeded to show her mine, she asked if it hurt going in, said no as had local, she was really pleased about that. Told her it took so much pressure off and if she was offered one to take it or even better ask for one. Told her that I'd told my onc that I wouldn't have chemo unless my line was in. She was so pleased, which made me pleased.

Also told her all about the forum, how supportive it is. That it covers all kinds of cancer and is for all age groups. She thanked me for taking the time to tell her. I said I just wanted to pass on a couple of things that I wish I had known about when I was first starting out.

Going to have a relax now.

  • I'm not so fond of Masterchef Australia . As far as I can see it's more about the relationships than the food. Each episode has someone having a drama about something and then they just show the food at the end. But I'll watch all UK versions including celebrity and kids! As I've said before I'm obsessed with food lol, even more so since I had chemo. I hardly ate then and lost 40kg so I've got heaps of eating to make up hahahahahaha.

And good for you talking to the young woman. You made someone's life better today - we can't often say that.

Doh....pity I have no passport or money n can't do sun....or I'd be booking a spot on your sofa. Purely for research purposes you understand...to see how easily addictive luxury is : )

In a former life,  on holiday in Florida... there was a room price list on the inside of our 'room' door...I couldn't believe how little walk up stayers would be charged for the enormous room with kitchen area and plush bathroom etc...like you say, compared with London.

In my youth I was a nanny in London and looked at very basic BnB on the end of tube lines for relatives to come visit...a very stark comparison. No wonder folk in movies took off to motels for weekends at the drop of a hat

Mrsox you n my pal would get on like a house on fire... very quiet n conservative at school...now snazzy Doc Martins or sequin stiletto boots, clothes a riot of colour as is her hair...I think this week it is zingy red but been multi coloured n blue, purple pink green etc.

She is after a parker for dog walking but refuses to have conventional parker colour so is still looking : )

    Cheers
