When I had 3 weeks of radiotherapy in 2015 as the hospital was a five minute drive away they asked if I minded early morning appointment s- they gave me 3 week schedule at planning, They said they gave 7.30am -8.30am appointments to those staying in the hospital as they had over an hours drive & those very local. I was talking to one of ladies and she said there were 2 wards of radiotherapy patients who stayed over night Monday to Thursday due to distance travelling, Maggie's which was on site then helped them with places to eat out, go for walks etc if they wanted. Great idea I wonder if they still do. I'm in Wales & some had to travel from the valleys.
The actual radiotherapy was fine, They gave me a gown which kept for 3 weeks. There was a changing cubicle there plus a water machine - they like you to drink a lot of water. After the first day I put my gown on at home and coat over the top so no changing there. I had a mould made to keep my breasts in place and even with the fiddle of fitting that I was done in 10 minutes. They always very punctual. They did ring me about 7am one morning to say one machine being fixed so did I mind coming in early, I said yes when and they said now. So 7.05 am I'm lying in table with soaking wet hair & I wasn't electrocuted !! Everyday I came home and then cream on breast. I was always starving afterwards. I chilled on bed with boob out and an egg butty for an hour, I did go out a bit but wasn't very sociable at that time- just how I deal with things. Mainly hubby drove me to places like Brecon, Barry Island, Llanelli coastal path and we'd have a cuppa or light lunch. Home mid afternoon and I'd chill on sofa watching stupid C5 afternoon films that I'd never watched before or since. I realised I was fatigued and they required no energy to watch, unlike a quiz show !
Ask if they have option to stay overnight. Some units have hosts, B&B arrangements.
I’ve now got an email contact (at last!) with BCN’s office as they suggested I sent a photo of scar, I’ve still got a tiny place which leaves a brownish spot on bra, it washes out (I’ve an identical spare) as I treat it pre-wash, but it shows healing is still going on. They want me to send another pic next week. It was the bra plus softie pad I got issued with to put pressure on the wound knowing I’d get swelling (boy, did I!)
My wound is sutured under the skin and glued so not easy to tell if and when it’s healed enough to begin gently to cream and massage. Any ideas, ladies? I gather from BCN contact today that I can begin to leave bra off at night now, but that still feels a bit early as I’ve still got some swelling there, again, any ideas?
Sometimes you just forget to ask all the stupid niggly questions! And last time the glue was a darker colour and gradually peeled off plus I don’t think I needed to wear a special bra for long, I think I had a soft sports bra.

Yes I do, I think they are hoping it will get absorbed rather than having to drain it again. Perhaps I will indicate that when I send them a pic next Tuesday, as they suggested. Next week is half term so if I need a bit more draining, son would be happy to drive me in.
night night Fruit Loops, sleep well and stay safe, plenty of sleepy fairy dust for all who wish

I had a few days away last week, Durham and the Lakes, staying at Ullswater. Weather ok but came back home at the weekend with virus/tonsillitis … very painful and felt rough for a few days. Still don’t feel 100%. How are you Northerner as I see you and hubby have Covid.
I hope everyone is doing as well as possible.

I’m on day 9 most symptoms alleviating but still feeling very nauseous & testing positive so made the decision that I will not be travelling to Nottingham for grandaughters wedding .
Hubby is still going but he has been feeling fine for the last 7 days . Daughter on day 5 and clear . Just me holdin* on .
Son is on his way with partner from Norfolk to pick hubby up so they travel together .
TBH if I didn’t feel so ill I would have gone and wore mask presuming my immune system can’t be bothered with the fight .
