WhatHappened hope you remember to put your knickers on today!!! We still laugh at my daughter's story from when she was first in school. She came home and told me she hadn't worn any knickers that day under her tights as her father was in charge of getting her ready for school!!! His words were you didn't put any out so how should i know she needed them under tights!!!! My daughter said she didn't realise until she went to loo in school!!!
Lacomtekp safe travels and I'm sure your tribute to your father will go down well. Hope your mother is ok too xx
Northerner aside from 1 year I had my results on the day when under breast care unit. Makes such a difference as you get scan anxiety once appointment letter drops through door then to not have results on day it continues. I'm back on routine screening now so had to wait 3 weeks last year only to be recalled but they did they give me all clear on day.
Mag123 if you having side effects of treatment you maybe entitled to PIP. It's an in work benefit which might help you to reduce hours. There's a thread here.
Cloudier I went the full hog and took early retirement at 55 in 2019. I was public sector and if made redundant I could access my pension early. I was lucky there was another person at risk of redundancy so they had my job and I was made redundant.
Hope everyone else is well.
I was looking forward to lazy day so got up at 9am, went in shower then hubby needed watering and feeding as he's renovating wooden garden furniture and was up at 7am!! Then my daughter needed help getting ear drops for another infection. In Wales we have minor ailment where pharmacist can prescribe but today the normal pharmacist was away and her replacement not trained to issue and wouldn't do it anyway as she needs to see patient and my daughter still isn't leaving the house due to her OCD. So I had to battled GP surgery who said they had no telephone appointments and to ring tomorrow but last time daughter delayed she ended up in hospital where they had to drain her ear. Told me to go to pharmacy. I explained she can't and GP aware of her MH condition and they will speak to her regarding any issue so begrudgingly given telephone consult "for SOMETIME that afternoon WHEN the doctor has worked through HIS LIST" ( caps for her emphasis. 5 minutes later my daughter messaged to say prescription ready and to collect urgently (GP words) so it doesn't get out of hand this time. So I get the prescription go to pharmacy adjoined and no stock. Go to 2 others, no stock and can't order in as supply issue. Then onto fourth which isn't may favourite as stopped using due to the curt behaviour of staff and they had it plus different staff in there!
Hi Carol,
I hope everyone is having a good day.
On the ear drop prescription - I used to work with Pharmacies and know of the supply issues. Best thing is to ask what they can get or have and ask Doctor to change prescription. It’s a crazy situation and there is generally a big lack of communication between Doctors and Pharmacies. In an ideal world they would have live information on supply issues.
We took advantage of special rate on the open top tourist bus around New Forest today, great fun, but husband just napped and dog fast asleep!
Hugs to everyone, I’m still learning how to get all your names listed.
Off to RT planning Monday - free parking!

Karen22 thanks for info. I've run into this issue before of doctor prescribing something that the pharmacist said is just not stocked at that dosage and it was a Saturday so getting the prescription changed a nightmare. I had decided if 4th didn't have I'd ask for alternative they had in stock and go back to surgery and do battle with the officious receptionist!!!
Good luck with RT planning. I had to have a mould made as G cup!!!! That was quite an enjoyable experience of hot plaster bandages on chest! Don't you normally get free parking. Welsh hospitals introduced it years ago which is brilliant but impossible now to park during "office hours" as one hospital by University and park and the other near DVLA and rumours staff park cars then car share/walk to work!! I think it's a problem across Wales as I've been to 2 hospitals in Cardiff and if I hadn't been able to drop hubby off and wait in car he would have missed appointment. I think they need to utilise technology and issue exclusive codes to patients/visitors to input into ticket machine to stop non hospital parking during day. No problem parking for visitors in evening, even pre pandemic. I used to go at 5pm every night for 6 weeks when hubby in and the car parks were emptying out then!!
Hi Carol,
Fingers crossed you get meds for your daughter, ear infections are horrible!
I had RT 8/9 years ago on the other breast, 15 sessions and 5 boost and had to pay for parking albeit at subsidised rate. This time due to backlogs I agreed to go to hospital 50 miles away, they have just one LINAC machine and seems to be a dedicated unit and its own free car park, it’s amazing what you can get excited about…..thankfully just the 5 sessions this time.
It is such an unwanted stress for anyone undergoing treatment to worry about getting parked, and having to pay for it. Wish I could do something to help everyone.
I thought I’d posted another photo of my dog and squirrels, but can t see it on here.
Hi Carol
at our hospital if you are attending for certain long term treatments cancer being one we register our car reg with security office . It is then entered into system and parking eye do not fine if by mistake it does then security cancel it . If know you have someone you need to visit for a week there is a sliding scale a weeks charge being £7 for that you can visit in same vehicle as often as you need the charges cover two hospitals .
Same applies to Blue badge ( which I have ) it is very efficient ie last week when I went for mammogram we had different car so we parked I went to app. And hubby to security office to enter other reg all done in minutes .
Very well lit and secure camera any excess funds go towards frontline .
Across the road is secondary car park 14 hrs £2
The Christie is free parking just not a lot of it considering the size so you have to time it right. At my 1 year check, the breast nurse referred me for counselling. She also referred me for complementary therapy and I had a lovely back and neck massage today. I'm struggling a bit with shoulder blade aches on both sides. I get 3 treatments and when done they swap your car park ticket for one that means you don't have to pay. They said that the Macmillan centre (this is at Wythenshawe Hospital) has been open throughout covid times but unless you are told then you don't know. Wish I'd been told this earlier for support as its not an easy journey doing this on your own and attending appointments. But I am glad I found this forum x
Glad you get free parking, it’s no joke paying. Our hospital charges for all except blue badge, thankfully due to the back problem with so much pain (a bit better controlled now thanks to the oil plus I’m able to look after it better) I was awarded one about ten months ago. I guess with all the caring for hubs my back got really bad and I didn’t have any chance to rest or do any yoga to help it. It got to the point that I gasped with the sudden sharp pains and had to stand still for a minute before being able to actually move when first standing up. Now it’s just bad in the mornings and if I’m careless at all. Hey ho, getting older isn’t a lot of fun, is it?!
Night night dear Fruit Loops, sleep well and stay safe,
plenty of sleepy fairy dust for all who wish
hugs xxx

So I'm sitting in my nephew 's bed ( not with the nephew, you understand...with OH) in Peterborough. The sea was so calm today it was like a swimming pool but the road network from Newhaven was horrendous. Apparently there is a train strike.....We were in a jam approaching the Dartmouth tunnel for about an hour then just as we got moving on the M11, roadworks caused more delays. I expect Paris or Lyon can be as bad....but I don't live there so traffic like this was a shock!
I was reading about your hospital parking difficulties. Our hospitals are mostly free but there are often space shortages. However, if you have an illness like cancer, or diabetes you can have free taxis to appointments. I had 33 sessions of radiotherapy back in 2016, daily for six weeks with a taxi every day. It meant OH didn't have to get up early to take me. But I forget.....the NHS is the best in the world!.....
