Hi Violetsniff,
I totally see your point about having to go back for another appointment. It’s frustrating as sometimes in some NHS Trusts they have a “one stop shop”, so you get all the tests and appointment in one go.
It may not be the case in your area, but sometimes Doctors Surgeries have details of a Volunteer Driver Service. This is different to Patient Transport which I assume you’re saying are the ones fully booked? Ours in called Care Cars, and you just pay mileage. There is also a group called Good Neighbours Network which is Hampshire based, but maybe something similar close to you?
I wish you all the best with your tests. And you’re not being a grumpy old woman
Violetsniffif you were in Swansea I'd offer you a lift . I know I'd be lost not driving as despite being only 3 miles from City Centre I'm on a subsidised bus route. This means 60-80 minutes wait between buses and only Mon -Fr till 5.45 pm. A 20+ walk will take me to more frequent bus.
Rant away. It is why we are here, to support each other. I think the diagnosis just makes us more prepared to speak out. Certainly doesn't make you a grumpy old woman!
Another night of crap sleep. Too hot,not comfy, not dropping off. Think I may have to resort to a sleeping pill tonight.
To the hospital, its just an appointment and the admin staff can be clueless. I'm sure that if they knew how stressful and anxious it makes us they would do it all at the same time but that might require thinking first. Appreciate not all places are like this and yes I'm getting cynical in my old age but I'm at Wythenshawe Hospital and the admin is appalling. The Nightingale Centre which is the breast care unit is a little better as they do their own. I'm already getting anxious and my appointment is not until Wed.
Where in the country are you Violetsniff?
Cooler weather today and rain later so hoping this will help. Weekend hugs to all x
Thanks ladies but it was the Volunteer Drivers who were booked up.
I will try and find out if the Hospital I am going to has a Volunteer Driver Service.
I will find a way !xx
Goodness knows how little old ladies manage!!
I will change the subject now as I don’t want to get all thingy….and I know the staff do the very best they can do…I think it’s the public transport which does my head in…
As it has been a rainy day I have been houseworking.Emptied out a space and found these!!a book of pretty embellishments, spoilt in damp but JUST RIGHT for my quilt I am making!!and a little book on how to knit teacosies.I was getting a bit bored…but no longer….
I’ve been hit with the weepies this evening. Yes I know it’s inevitable and it does just hit me sometimes. I guess it’s partly due to it being Fathers Day tomorrow and their first without him. I got a Moonpig card made with 6 of my favourite pics of him, blank inside, with just my own handwritten message for each of them and they both got them Thursday and phoned to say thank you, bless them.
Night night Fruit Loops all, sleep well and stay safe,
plenty of sleepy fairy dust for all who wish
hugs xxx

Thank you, Violetsniff and Anna12345, we have been such a close and tight knit family of 4 that it just felt I had to do it!
I’ve had a reasonably decent day, did the cleaning and son came over with granddog Stanley, (who left a present on the lawn!!!!)
And now I’m watching Sleepless in Seattle (as you do!) which we both loved, a cute film and hubs always liked Tom Hanks.
I spoke to daughter last night, she was driving down from working in Manchester to a parking spot near Heathrow as the had a flight at 8 am to Luxembourg to do brass quintet gigs, we chatted quite a bit.
Hope you lovely Fruit Loops have had the best Father’s Day possible with your loved ones.
Hugs xxx
