Grogg my Canadian neice is a Dr of Neuroscience. She works in a children's hospital looking at brain scans. She is called Dr Emma Duerden.

I hope the counsellor can do something for her once trust has been gained. Maybe cognitive therapy to challenge the beliefs.
Thank you. She's done CBT, EMDR and integrated over the last 7 years. CBT is gold standard for CBT but it hasn't it worked for her. She did a week residential course where they used "flooding" technique just before lockdown but turns out the organisations/counsellors now being investigated for fraud (lying about credentials/qualifications). This therapist says her root cause is PTSD. She's always had what I called "the worries" and the need to confess her thoughts she thinks are wrong since a child but age 16 my MIL, her only grandparent died suddenly but she took it ok, natural order etc but less than a year later my sister, her Godmother, died shortly after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. I'd tried to prepare her when she asked me after diagnosis if she would be ok. I was honest and said we wouldn't be able to keep her for long, probably a year. This was devastating for her, especially when just a month later admitted to A&E on life support which after 20 hours they withdrew. Since then she's had to deal with my BC diagnosis, her father suffering serious spinal injuries . Now she has clinical depression, sleep issues which are all making dealing with OCD overwhelming. She has sleeping tablets from GP, anti anxiety tablets, transitioning to new serotonin uptake meds and supplements (B12 and some other vitamin as she's vegan). She'll get there. Her hubby so supportive and we can afford to pay for private care as the NHS is just CBT sessions. The support for MH just isn't there unfortunately
Grogg Carol you are correct in that cognitive behaviour therapy is used for OCD. Im sure you know the theory. Which is a good and useful tool.
Also the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor is a helpful medication, it takes about 3 weeks to get in the system and the dose can be upped if needed.
I wish her all the best, she sounds so sensitive. Xx
Really should be in bed asleep but I feel like mopping the floor. Trouble is I like my music quite loud while I mop so I can dance ! Don't think hubby would be amused if I woke him now.
I had planned to watch film at 9, finish off the bottle of wine and bed. Daughter FaceTimed just as film about to start and we had hilarious hour of auditioning for her teddy bear's band ! I'm the worst singer apparently. Gosh we are a weird family. We love our Teddy bears, they all have names. Some live with my daughter, some live with us.
Due to lockdown and uncertainty the lead up to daughters wedding was more muted I decided to do a gift a month. The wedding gift boxes you can buy online were overpriced. I think £25 per month. I decided I could do better for the money I bought a ring dish, Bridezilla t-shirt, Last Christmas as Miss Grogg sweatshirt , Bride & Groom glasses, Bride PJs & slippers, Bride to be Mug etc. I did blow the budget on a Jimmy Choo handbag one month but the final gift, a bride outfit for her oldest bear that she had for her 1st birthday was the winner.
l hope all you fruit loops enjoying a nice sleep.
Good morning all,
Sunny hear in Lancashire. Boyfriend coming to mend a couple of little storm damage items and also move 2 big peices of furniture. I have cleared a spare bedroom as new flooring is coming tomorrow.
I still have the extra guinea, we are taking her back this afternoon.
So busy busy. Must get a move on.
Sending best wishes to all for a happy Sunday as possible. Pain and side effects at a minimum and worries over scans and anything else postponed till next week xxx
Had a lovely weekend with visiting family. There was no problem with the anti vaxxer granddaughter and boyfriend. Adults plus son came for a meal Fri night, while the kids went skiing. Sat we all went to Dunham Massey Nat trust park. Weather was lovely, there was no awkwardness and it was just great. They visited my ex today, so it all worked out very well. xx
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
seaspirit44 you're not far from me if you went to Dunham or did you travel far? Its a lovely park. X
