Medical mystery solved in Chelsea.
So, I have immunotherapy induced myocarditis to go with my immunotherapy induced colitis! Apparently they could never see it on cardiac MRIs because by the time the scan was scheduled I'd always passed the acute phase of the attack. Or something. But a blood marker has suddenly shown up & is sufficiently consistent to confirm the diagnosis. Not an unusual condition, just hard to find, in my case. Treatment is yet another immunosuppressant.
That's the good news. But I've now developed an infection in the port in my arm, so that has to come out. Does anyone know whether I can have it replaced, & if so, how long a gap I have to leave between removal and replacement?
What fun!
Hi everyone not read back properly but hugs to xxx
Feeling sorry for myself so just venting. Stomach awful today despite Gf food and lactose free mostly. It could be creme fraiche i had last night ! But it was only tiny bit promise. General body aches and stomach just bleurgh. Wish it would sort out really hoped GF diet would solve it but it drags on xxxx
Oh dear! But at least you now know, ! More meds, eh?!
how miserable, Optimistic but I hope it settles soon.
had a very lazy day! Well I guess we are due one after getting almost all the tree down!
Hugs xxx
Moomy
at least you know, but not good news. That means if you weren't shielding before you are now! A bummer. And the port infection too. ️
️The could try one in your chest after the arm infection is clear, but dought they will have another go at your arm. You must be so fed up xxxx
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Good afternoon everyone! Hope you are having a good day!
really pleased that the mystery is finally solved, although obviously wished it wasn't something else to add to your long list of issues! Sending hugs your way. Have they told you when you might be able to go home? Oh and as for your line/port can't remember which you had! Surely a port in the chest would be best for you? Less chance of infection!
Optimistic sorry to hear you are having a bad day/week with your colitis! I can totally empathise it's just horrid. Worse for you as you have completely changed your diet and yet you still have issues! Were you told you might still have flare ups?
Northerner thanks for all the puzzles they are really good fun. Although they definitely keep my sister entertained for longer than me!
I'm currently struggling with colitis and Night sweats or drowning may be a better description oh and hot flushes throughout the day! Which becomes embarrassing when you have to go for your Zoladex injection and it's not your usual nurse. She looked at me as I sat in the waiting area fanning myself and then said "you feeling okay?" Yes I'm okay thanks, just a hot flush! "Well can I take your temp?" Of course no problem! All was good I go in and she reads off all the spiel that they need to do before asking me to lie down! Now because of the virus situation I try and avoid touching any surfaces in the surgery. So I turn my back to the bed and went to put my bum up and with that the whole bed started to move and I almost went flying! She had forgotten to put the brake on!!
She was very apologetic and kept saying oh I'm sorry that was very silly of me and very dangerous! I said I was okay no harm done! But I am so grateful that I didn't fall last thing I need is a trip to A&E!! Anyway I'm fine other than being a sweaty, hot, sticky and grumpy cow!
But I shall keep going! My acupuncture lady has said she'll see me next week if I feel okay about it! I am so desperate to stop these flushes and night sweats! I think it's probably a risk but a small well calculated one!!
So today is my youngest nieces Birthday shes 14!!! Seriously how is my little baby niece that old!!
Love and Hugs to all. Sal xxxx
London lass ... LP was very well behaved and charmed all the nurses! He brought me luck as consultant didn't find any lesions so unsure where the bleeding was coming from . Sod's law it stopped yesterday when apt. was today. I have sent LP on home to you after a big feed (cake)!
Hi AP7
Glad they have found out what the problem was, but so sorry you're having such a dreadful time at the moment.
I know they can put a port in near your collar bone but not sure if they would be able to do it straight away as they will most likely want to wait until they have sorted the infection.
Sometimes it seems as thought every thing that could go wrong does, but I hope that things will soon start to improve and you will be able to get back home.
Sending hugs x
Hi Sal
So glad you didn't end up in A&E. What was that nurse thinking of?? Just shows how easily accidents can happen, but we never think that we would need to check that a piece of hospital equipment was safe to sit on. Having said that, my husband had a nasty fall about four years ago when nurses had put a hoist in the bay next to his bed, he put his hand on it to steady himself when he was trying to get past it and it moved and down he went.. Just someone being lazy and leaving a piece of equipment on the ward instead of putting it back where it was supposed to go.
Hope the colitis and the night sweats start to improve soon.
My friend is at her wits' end with hot flushes - just been taken of HRT after being left on it too long, I will suggest she looks into acupuncture.
My youngest granddaughter is 14 and her sister 20 and I still find it hard to believe that I am old enough to be their grandma!
Big hug
