  • Hello ,

Sorry you find yourself in need of the 'awake' thread - this one is where it all goes on.... most of the time, although the thread has been quiet during the night time hours of late (I would love to know which is right... been or being arrrghh, I get mixed up with has and as too arrrghhh  :( .....

anyway, we always leave a light on well its a table lamp, so that anyone coming in during the night will see where we are.

I was just off to feed the cats and thought I'd have a 'quick' pop on and see what's going on, I couldn't go without saying 'hello and welcome to the Awake thread' and hoping you are able to get some sleep soon.

Right cup of tea, feed the cats and then its bed for me.

Sending love and hugs to all xxx zZZzzZZzzZZz

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x

    Hi Sal

I was looking online and saw a piece about”  paced breathing’” on the Mayo Clinic ( for hot flushes). Here’s the link. It also mentions Acupuncture, maybe try a different Acupuncturist as they can vary like anything else. I saw a Chinese lady at the local Macmillan Horizon Centre and she was great.

Also I read somewhere that Vit E can help.

    Love Judith xx

  • , I see you are struggling with sleeping to. As  said.......

Consider yourself a Fruit Loop! We are a cheery bunch, most of the time! Okay I’m a bit, Well a lot grumpy at the moment, however I am trying to sort out my issues and in the mean time I can still be here to listen and support others! Xxxxxx

You are certainly braver than me! I would love to try HRT as you hear such amazing things BUT my Cancer was 8/8 and I have secondaries and the whole point of the Zoladex is to stop my ovaries producing oestrogen!! Confounded I’m sure it would be a great solution though!

Thanks for the thought, but have tried the chillow! Looked great and worked for a bit but then I found it just got warmer and stickier, even with a pillowcase on it! Xxx

Thanks for all the ideas! Let’s hope Someone finds a solution for everyone soon! However for me tonight it’s bloody Acid Reflux! If it’s not one thing it’s another! xxx

  • London lass....

When I went through the menopause naturally I.e. before bc....I was recommended some homeopathic tablets to help with the flushes. Black cohash, evening primrose etc. Now I have no idea what they did.....they may be totally unsuitable for your cancer treatments  but I do remember they worked for me. If they are suitable,  you can buy them online. I did....just as online shopping was becoming a new thing because it's  about 17 years ago now so there must be loads of choice of suppliers now. I do hope we can find you something that helps although I have to say that my body temperature hasn't  been right since chemo. I get incredibly  hot whenever I do anything with exertion like hanging out washing or mowing the lawn or at the moment the exercises with the physio. I am triple negative  so no extra drugs. It can only be put back to the chemo.....over 3 years ago.....I wasn't  like it before. Anyone else encountered this after chemo? I think we should all get together and write out all the things that the treatments have left us with. I know the argument is the drugs have saved our lives but I do think they need to take responsibility  for some of the long term complications we have been left with and offer assistance. My help is now coming from a neuro surgeon....oncology just tick the ' all clear' box and move on to a more challenging  patient who still needs their help with cancer!

Ok. Rant over...I am just tired.....of pain, sleepless nights, keeping mum and dad safe  in the heatwave ( 42°again yesterday!).... 38° has become a cool day....

Have a good day. I am taking mum shopping to an air conditioned  retail unit with shops and cafes.  A storm is threatened.  Please let it come with rain. I am saving all the dirty water( even the shower in bowls) to water the flowers. I have too many new plants...Rose's, clematis,  etc to allow them to die in the heat without trying to rescue them.....hope they are enjoying a bit of soap, detergent,  greasy water etc!

    Love to all

    Karen

  • Oh , they are no help to you at all, are they, and I'm sure you feel they just don't care. Big hugs xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
