Good to hear you are doing okay Lynn! 6hours sleep would do me very nicely! Really hope things continue to improve!
It's funny you mention your thumbs being painful, all of my finger joints hurt but the thumb is particularly bad, on both hands. I get a weird burning sensation in them and pain in the boney part nearest the wrist. If that makes sense.
Well I had a quick look for a suitable picture for you today Lynn, and this one couldn't of been more perfect.......
PUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRFECT!
So Lynn, I hope the rest of your day goes well and you get a good nights sleep. Thanks for your continued advice and support you really have been a wonderful friend xxxx
That's exactly the pain Sal. Doc told me it's called De Quervain's tendonitis and here's what Dr Google has to say "De Quervain’s tendinitis is a common condition that causes thumb and wrist pain due to inflammation of the tendons that pass through the wrist and into the thumb. Movement of the thumb may also be accompanied by a snapping or catching sensation." It's annoying more than anything. He told me to use anti-inflammatory cream too, which seems to help but I'm very nervous of it and will only use it when I can immediately wash it off my other hand, as it's no good for cats - if you pat them with it on your fingers they lick it off their coats and it's toxic to them.
Love the cat pic - he's very beautiful (and yes he does look like a he).
You're a good friend too - to me and everyone else. Stay strong babe.
Thanks LL, I am ashamed now, in the light of day, as I was just feeling sorry for myself. I did think this shooting pain must be normal though. It doesn't feel dangerous, just strange and so intense. I am on Carboplatin, Docetaxel, Pertuzumab, Trastezumab and the usual steroids, anti sick and Lenograstim jabs, with plain old Paracetamol thrown in for pain. I am having 8 cycles of this same cocktail, so I just need to suck it up and get used to it. My poor hubby had very little sleep, but is now dozing beside me. In just a few weeks he has lost so much weight already and I have to remember to look after him as much as he looks after me. I feel a lot better now; I feel sick but I'm not even heaving and I have eaten 8 buttered Ryvita! Lots of fibre, carbs and fat! If anyone else has had these shooting pains, like electric bolts, I'd love to know. I am wary of contacting the BCNs or Onc unit, as I don't want them thinking I can't cope and reducing the doseages etc. I am apparently on high doseage and that must mean I need it, so I don't need any wavering from the plan!

None of us wanted to be in this group, but we are glad we're not alone.
Diagnosis 2/8/17 IDC Her2+, 22mm, with spread to several lymph nodes. TCHP chemo started 23/8/17, Mx with immediate, temp recon 24/1/18, rads 20/3 to 10/4/18, Herceptin by IV until Nov 18. RR Mx Jan 23. Still waiting for reconstruction, but opting for simple implants, as opposed to Diep, due to long waiting lists for diep.
Oooh! I think I can actually help here with the pains in your hands! If I can, I will be so glad to give something back! You can get a gel called Biofreeze from Boots or many other chemists. It is totally herbal, no drugs and works extremely quickly. It cools the area and removes nerve pain and arthritic aches amazingly but don't get it near your eyes, lol! Let me know how you get on with it. Xxx

Jo, this site in my opinion is about.....
We ALL have bad days/nights when we just don't know what to do, or who to turn too. Being in pain is hard at anytime, but in the middle of the night it is awful. You are in Pain, exhausted, lonely and scared. You don't know where to turn! Coming on here and sharing how you feel ISN'T feeling sorry for yourself, it's seeking support from people who truly understand. We can't solve your problem, but we can definitely empathise with you.
As for contacting your BCN, NEVER feel that you are bothering them. It is their job and if they needed to reduce the dose to save you the added side effects that's okay! Lots of ladies have a reduced dose and still go on to be okay! The Oncologist has to find an amount of drugs to suit your body causing as little long term damage as possible. But they can only do that if you are honest with them!
Glad you are feeling better today! I hope you are over the worse for this cycle and you get a better nights sleep tonight, or snuggle up with your other half now! I think I am heading up for a nap shortly xxxx
Thanks Sal, it is good to know you are all there. X

Going to try that Biofreeze JoDec - if it helps and I can reduce the cocodamol that would be brilliant. Thanks for the info!!
Lounge furniture is now moved. It was horrifying how much crap had gathered under the sofas since I started treatment..... I'm blaming the cats for that as it was mostly cat toys and things they stole off the table like lip salves and so on!!
Now it's back to........

No, we will never run out of bunny pics....
We could always go back to the pretend ones...
I ended up tidying up too! Son said 'help me mum', so we went for it. Not a very exciting day but do feel as though I actually got quite a lot done. Which I don't feel very often these days...
Hope others had more exciting days,

Hubby thought I was bonkers wanting to rearrange the furniture......... Until it was done, then he says "it's much better this way"
Sleep tight everyone
Hugs xx
