Hi Fruit Loops, I hope everyone is keeping as well as they can be...... and that most of us had 'sunshine' today.... we had plenty of rain in the morning (so I was told, me and my sleeping habits are still messed up arrrghh ) ..... this afternoon it really felt like spring was trying to spring in - I do hope we have a good spring and summer it really helps everyone.
Dearest moomy I hope you are feeling better - sending you gentle hugs and lots of love.
You mention frogs, I love frogs and toads - ever since a child when we collected frogspawn and hatched and kept frogs or toads in a make shift belfast sink. A few years later we had a frog come back and he seemed to stay around for - well back then it seemed like forever.
...... You and Box of frogs talking of frogs, please can all our Fruit Loops - please take care whilst driving for the next few weeks especially on the dark mostly damp or wet nights as our dear frogs and toads are making their way back home to the lakes, ponds, streams, etc where they were born to lay their own frogspawn.
I won't bore you too much about these dear frogs and toads - just a few things.....
Frogs and Toads are very precious to us and their survival rate is so sad......
Frogs and toads can travel some 4 to 6 miles to get back home - many dying crossing numerous roads.
They don't reach maturity for 2 or 3 years - many are killed during their first years crossing roads to get back to the pool and lakes - even though they are mature enough to mate.
Much of the frogspawn gets eaten by fish or birds - again so many are lost to this.
Therefore my lovely Fruit Loops .... please, if you do see a frog or toad in the toad - please, please, please, if it is safe to do so, please stop and cross/move the frog/toad out of the road and place safely on the other side, place 'in the same direction' as they were travelling (otherwise they will have to cross the road again, again meeting all the risks involved).
I find its best to sneak up behind them and then cup your hands around them
I guess I have just confirmed I am a fully fledged Fruit Loop
Thinking of all our dear Fruit Loops and sending love and hugs to you all xxxx
Morning WhatHappened , yes, bless you, you’re right about frogs and toads. Also most reptiles are beginning to move around now that the weather is milder, basking in any sun they see to warm up.

Owww Snowys Mum your pond is beautiful.... look at that frog spawn.... to think the babies from here might be the very frogs you seen yesterday owww how lovely
Yesterdays weather was so nice, its funny whilst we have the cold, rainy or dull days we, well me, I tend to hibernate, I hadn't noticed all the hard work nature is doing behind the scenes .... then yesterday I notice the small bunches of miniature daffodils that have appeared all happily brightly shinning their yellow hats .... I never noticed then and then boom there are here.
Sending love to all our Fruit Loops xxx
WhatHappened The reason I'm crocheting frogs is for the Frog Awareness Week at the community garden and cafe I volunteer at! We'll be selling them for funds. Our pond is a very VERY popular mating spot so trying to time it for peak mating season here - went for 10th March. Lots of other crafters are also busy working away. So thank you very much gor sharing knowledge here. I'll share some pics of our froggies in the pond when I get some good ones. For now, crafted ones by all us volunteers... (mine has a freddo in his secret pouch lol)
Great pics, all!
I took one yesterday of my fairly new (planted late last year) ‘Christmas rose’ and my tiny daffs just coming out….i haven’t yet properly weeded so the bed looks a bit untidy.
