.
Hi Sue, sorry to hear you have been suffering....acid reflux really is crap! I am back on the Omeprozole and things are slowly settling again! It's amazing how just 2 days on ranitidine caused such a nightmare! But will speak to GP on Monday and see what she says!
Gill as far as I can see from what I have read online. They don't do surgery on hiatus hernias unless they are causing major issues! Treating with drugs like Omeprozole seems to be the first line of treatment! Which suits me!
Hope you both have a good, reflux free night with plenty of sleep!
Night night xxxxx
I hope you don't mind me mentioning this, I 'suffered' from terrible acid reflux for many years, always had a packet of strawberry flavoured gaviscon with me (might as well enjoy the flavour). Even bending over would trigger it. Well, I had a bacterial infection (bacterial pneumonia). I had a bread crumb go 'down the wrong way' and could not clear it. My doctor prescribed me antibiotics for the bacterial infection...... well, blow me down; after a few days I stopped having acid reflux and heartburn (this was some 2 years ago now). I do have it very 'occasionally'. When I went back to the doctors I told him what had happened and he said this can be the case, a lot of people have the 'Helicobacter Pylori (H.Pylori) bacteria sitting in the stomach causing 'no apparent' symptoms ~ yet can be the cause of acid reflux and heart burn.
The antibiotics I had received for my bacterial infection - just so happened to treat this 'helicobacter pylori' bacteria. I'm not saying this will work for you, however, it might be worth you looking into this 'just in case'. (I can't find the name of the antibiotic at the moment, when I find it I'll add it to this post. Just wanted to share this - in case it help xx
Well I spoke too bloody soon, been up for the last 2hrs with.......
Acid Reflux :-( My throat and chest is burning and nothing seems to be shifting it! I feel pathetic saying this but I'm sat in bed, just crying! Its frustrating because for the last 2 days I have really felt like 'me' again! Now its just thrown me backwards! I know this is how its going to be from now on, good days and bad! But I suppose the better you feel the harder you fall!
BUT feeling like 'me' for the two days makes this 'almost worth it! But enoughs enough now.....PEE OFF REFLUX
or at least put the fighter out!!!!
MOAN OVER.........I did put a funny pic in too,
LondonLass....Am so sorry to hear about your asid reflux...... really understand and feel what you are going through as this also happened to me about 3 months back.... it was so bad that I couldn't breath and I was admitted to the hospital for 3 days. It is really horrible and I do hope that you will get better . Big hugs for you . Xxx
I hope the reflux is settling down, I hate the feeling that you can't lay down without wanting to throw up, though I wished I had done just that last night when the night staff were more interested in fixing the TVs next door than sorting my pain meds, when I couldn't breath cos of it they then started flapping around like a headless chicken (with acid reflux) saying the computer was down, this is at least 90 minutes after I'd asked for medication! Think hubby may put a complaint in today which is a pity cos day staff are brilliant. Sorry now I'm moaning, I hope I go home today. I don't know about being in the wide awake club I feel more like I should be in the 'Moan Away' club, right I'm going to stop now we should be asleep anyway so let's try again 1 baa 2 baa 3 Baa, Zzzzz, just kidding it didn't work never mind. I hope your reflux settles soon and thank you for your support and lovely messages earlier, support really helped, ((((((((((Big Big Hugs))))))))))) to you everyone else out there Night Night, don't let the Ed bugs bite, and if they do. Bite Back! Â xx
Hello Aliasdj, just read your post.....sorry, missed your previous posts and wanted to let you know that I really hope that the reflux will settle.
Have just wrote to LondonLass about my same condition. Yes, it such a horrible feeling of constantly wanting to throw up and not being able to breath. That's waiting a long time..... 90minutes, should point it out..... the last time, when I was waiting for 30minutes, I keep sending the hubby every 5minutes to ask for the meds!!
Hope that you will go home soon and pray that you will have a speedy recovery. Take good care and big hugs xxx
Hi ladies, firstly Jbelle Thankyou so much for the lovely pic and kind hug! I really needed it. I EVENTUALLY dropped off to sleep for an hour and than woke needing a wee!! Typical!!
Aliasdj sorry to hear you are having a rough time in hospital, I have a little pic that hopefully will make you smile......just a little smile!!!.....
As for MOANING..........Come along missy, you are way behind me on the moaning stakes! You didn't hear me at 4am, think I made it clear that life was pretty shit sometimes and that maybe just maybe I could have a break! Just for a bit, now obviously I was talking to myself!
But that's okay, I think the problem starts when you start expecting an answer :-)
So my little Moan Buddy! I hope you managed to get a bit more sleep! Fingers crossed you get to escspe soon!! If not let us know where you are and we'll start planning the Great Escape! Keep smiling, we are all here for you! Sal xxxxxxxx
