Hi Everyone,
Just a quick question,
I've been taking Anastrozole since the end of last November.
The Pharmacy has always given me the tablets and on the box the manufacturers name has been Almus, today I picked up my drugs and the manufacturers name is accord.
Is it ok to take these or will they give me different side effects.
Thank you, Sue
Hi Sue, I'm afraid that's the million dollar question! For some people the make of drug makes no difference what so ever! BUT for others it proves to be a complete nightmare!
It's down to you, whether you want to try the new brand and see how you get on or go back and request the brand you are currently taking! There's every chance you will be fine, might be worth a try as if they ever struggle to get your preferred brand you will know how well you get on with other ones.......if that makes sense! Xxx
Hi LondonLass,
Thank you so much for your reply, I've been lucky so far and have always been given the same brand.
I remember reading on here about someone asking the same question but couldn't remember the reply.
I suppose I could try them and see if I do get any different side effects just in case, as you say the Pharmacy might not always be able to get them.
Thanks again, Sue xx
You never know, you might have fewer side effects (or easier at least) than the first brand.
Hi I am taking anastrozole too and have noticed that my latest prescription is different so am waiting to see if it will make a difference. However, for you although they are different the Accord brand are the best to have. It might be worth chatting to the pharmacist though.
Hello from Zen the subject of these hormone inhibitors/side effects is the saddest story of repetitive problems IF ONLY they would give everyone ARIMIDEX perhaps these problems or some of them, would go away. Don't you think we have enough on our plates without these extra 'trials & tribulations!' I know, I am living in cloud cuckoo land!
All I was told about Anastrozole was that it may give me diarrhea, nothing else, nothing about stiff joints, trigger finger and so on and on.....then you read the pamphlet enclosed with the tablets! and wish you hadn't.... then take it and hope for the best....seems as usual it is all down to money, not to do with having BC......thanks for listening! Zen
Totally agree Zen. The trouble is that not all medics believe that people react differently. My oncologist, who is top notch in every other way, was definitely skeptical when I asked him to specifically prescribe Arimidex. He did, but I'm sure he was thinking placebo effect.
Hi. This is all so unfair on all of us who have been through the breast cancer journey. I take Letrozole and the side effects are awful. I am building up the courage to ask my gp if I can have a try of Femara which some ladies say if they are lucky enough to get it has less side effects. I would even be prepared to pay for it! Good luck anyway x
Hello Jude and all...yes it is VERY UNFAIR but we seem powerless to do anything about it? Thank you for replies /comments so far.....Zen
Hi to everyone, can't remember all of your names, I wasn't expecting to get such a lovely response, thank you all.
It is such a pity that we have to go through surgery (twice for me) then take tablets which give us so many side effects, and yet who cares about us having the side effects? I'm grateful that my breast cancer was diagnosed early but some days I get really down with feeling so awful and also seem to get one virus on top of another too.
I had heard that one brand of Anastrozole was good but couldn't remember which one, so thanks dalefarm for the thumbs up for accord.
Sorry it's a short post but I've just come back from the Vets with my dog and been told she has an unoperable mass in her tummy, so as you can imagine I'm feeling really upset at the moment.
Catch up with you all later,
Thanks again, love ❤️ from Sue.
So very sorry about your dog. Same thing happened to a cat I had a few years ago. Animals are so important in our lives. In mine, at least. It's a lot for you to cope with. I send you huge hugs.x
