Hello all

Hoping to get some advice from those a bit further along than me - Finished chemo back in Sep, my hair is fully back but decidedly curly ... getting used to it after 45 years of totally straight hair, it's not the end of the world even if I do look about like I've had a bad 1980's style perm - just wondering if it's forever or will it return to pre chemo straight hair in time ?

Thanks

    Hi

Really tricky to predict this. unfortunately you will have to wait and see.

I'm 19 months post chemo and stil have chemo curls. It came back curly after having straight hair. I was told it takes upto 12 months for your original hair pattern to return but here I am 19 months later still with curls. it is however shoulder length now so I can straighten it. I don't though as it take far too long!

Curly hair is a whole new ball game in terms of maintainance And takes some getting use to.

Love this question but not the answer !! I'm seven months post chemo and was hoping I'd be back to my sleek bob soon!! Oh well, it was probably time for a change : D

Hi, I'm 11 months post chemo and after my hair coming back curly, I'd now describe it as having a kink or slight wave rather than curly. Don't know if this has made a difference or not but I've kept it short and it's probably been cut every 3-4 weeks. It does take a bit of getting used to but I wouldn't choose to go back to my sleek straight hair now.

I'm 3 years post chemo and my curls show no sign of disappearing. I think it's quite individual whether you keep or lose them. It's definitely better than no hair though so I've embraced my curls for now. X

    Hi Ladies

My hair looks like a throw back to the 70s. So many curls. Unfortunately I am also a redhead so I look like Annie in the musical.

Can't stop humming "the sun'll come out tomorrow"

Can go near it with a hairdryer cos it turns into a brillo pad.

    Use lots of morrocan oil!

My hair grew back white and very curly, I looked like an old ladies perm. Kept on having it cut and it started to straighten after about 20 months, I'm now 21/2 years past chemo and have my normal hair texture which is a bit wavy but can be straightened. So no it doesn't have to be permanent. But we are all different.

Oh Cathy you've made me laugh out loud.

your hair including colour sounds just beautiful.

Totally  get where you come from concerning the hair dryer. I've had blonde highlights so I'm more Worzel Gummidge after using one.

Cuppa tea and a slice of cake anyone?
