My Journey Notebook

It's been awhile since I posted on this forum.  Hello everyone.  Our story began in January 2023 when my husband was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour.  The news came as a total shock to the whole family and this Macmillan forum really helped me keep my sanity during those dark times.  The tumour was debulked and after waiting weeks to find out, it turned out to be a Grade 4 Glioblastoma tumour.  We continued through treatment and many appointments.  Thanks again to everyone who offered their kind words, advice and support.  It meant so much to me I cannot say - I get tearful with a strong feeling of gratitude.  My husband's journey sadly ended in January of 2024.  Since then much has happened - I miss him every day.

I wanted to reach out today because my husband kept a diary in a notebook.  On the front he put a sticker "My Journey."  He wrote many pages and he asked me to share it.  My husband's view is that if his words could help give insight to anyone on Grade 4 Glioblastoma, that he wished to share his notebook.

Does anyone have any tips on the best way for me to share his notebook?  I am able to type the words into a computer and save it as a file.  I could use some advice for how best to proceed.

  • Multi channel, i would get someone to read it for podcasts, and you tube.

Text highlights on other social media to drive traffic to it. possibly a shared document that people can download - perhaps google drive or similar

  • Hi Shebelieves

lovely to hear from you again.

Depending on how much your husband has written you could share it as a Community blog post via MacMillan where his words could prove to be inspirational to others.

I've written a few blogs for MacMillan and all that was needed was a word document.  If this idea appeals to you please email community@macmillan.org.uk

I chronicled G's GBM journey but have yet to decide how best to use those words. As an author, part of me wants to pull it together into a book that could be sold to raise funds for MacMillan but to be honest, I still find it a struggle to revisit those journals. Maybe one day....

If the blog idea doesn't appeal then you could explore reading the notebook out and share the video on You Tube. It's straightforward to upload content to You Tube.

Personally I think the blog is a lovely idea. I'm sure you'll find the perfect way to share it at the right time.

    love n hugs

  • My Apologies I meant to put 2023!!  It was one year.  Sorry!

  • I have now amended the original post from January 2003 to the correct date January 2023.  (Actually 2003 was the year we were married.)
