So I was diagnosed in September 2022 with stage 4 brain cancer (glioblastoma) and I’ve so far made it too July 2025! For months now my tumour has stayed shrunk and was consistently stable, until… I had a scan which are just routine on the 13-06-25 and when my oncologist called she told me that the scan is showing a new tumour also in my brain….. they don’t know what stage or type of cancer it is but it’s knocking the sails out of me and all I’ve been focusing on and wanting for so long is my driving license back which I could of applied for in dec this year I’m gutted has anyone experienced the same/similar? I’ve done nothing but cry I don’t feel mentally and physically strong enough to go through what I went through the first time again xxxx
HI Ktownwarrior
oh, I'm so sorry to hear that your last scan brought bad news. It totally understandable to feel as though the wind has been knocked out of your sails a bit but one step at a time. What did your oncologist say was the next step here?
We went through something similar with G. His maintenance scans were clear for almost two years then the oncologist spotted what they told us was two small areas of new growth. He arranged a second scan 6 weeks down the link to allow him to work out the rate of progression and to form a plan from there.
All the emotions that you are feeling are totally natural so please don't be too hard on yourself here. Focus on the facts as you've been told them and not the "what ifs". If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed it might be an idea to get some counselling. Your oncologist can arrange this or you could reach through the MacMillan Helpline and they should be able to offer some additional support.
Please remember that you can reach out here anytime too. We're here for you. You're not alone.
sending you a huge virtual hug and lots of positive energy.
