Hi,
I hope everyone is doing well.
My dad, who is 70 years old, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in October 2022. He underwent a biopsy and a short course of chemotherapy, but unfortunately, it wasn’t successful due to a fall that made the treatment too risky to continue. He then received four weeks of radiotherapy, which concluded in December 2022.
Over the past two years, he’s had regular scans every three months, and everything seemed stable until the end of October this year. At that point, he started to stay at home more, sleeping most of the day and eating very little. In mid-December, we had another scan, which revealed that the tumor(s) have returned.
At a follow-up appointment last week, we were informed that the hospital can’t offer any further treatment. I’m reaching out to see if anyone has any information on clinical trials or alternative treatments we could explore. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
HI HSA
a warm welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about all that is going on with your dad.
There's a section on the main body of the website that covers all types of treatment including alternative therapies - Cancer treatment - chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery | Macmillan Cancer Support.
With regards to clinical trials and the suitability of any alternative treatments for your dad, the best people to talk to are his medical team as they know the full picture. If you opt to try an alternative treatment without speaking to them first, I would encourage you to tell them in case there were any contra-indications with any medication that he is currently taking.
