Dissociative Episode (physical 'seizures') and Brain Tumours

Hi Folks,

My sister has a brain tumour (Glioma) and has regular episodes/seizures we have been told are 'dissociative episodes'.

We have been told that forms of mindfulness may be helpful, and also Cognitive Behavioural Therapy may also be good in managing these episodes.

Has anyone out there had any experience along these lines? Has anyone used CBT and/or mindfulness (meditation/breathing techniques etc) as a way to manage seizures?

Thanks for your time.

Wishing you all well

Vaughan

  • Hi Vaughan and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to hear that your sister is having regular episodes/seizures. It must be very distressing for the whole family.

I can't help with your questions but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. While you're waiting you could use the search bar in this group to see if there are any previous posts which mention this.

You could also post your questions in the ask a nurse section of the community and one of the specialist nurses will aim to reply within 2 working days.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your sister's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Had focal seizures and was fully awake I don't think anything would help but seizure meds did, no seizures for 3 years
