Colonoscopy results

After my colonoscopy I was told they had found a tumour.  They were doing a biopsy and I also had a CT scan. Then had to wait 3 weeks for a meeting to be told it was bowel cancer. I am going to have Immunotherapy to try and shrink the tumour.  Waiting for another meeting to find out when this will start. Stay strong and good luck

Hi Jess10 They told me after my colonoscopy that they were 99% sure that what they’d seen was cancerous. I suppose they do these procedures day in and day out so can tell from experience what they are looking at - the biopsy results confirmed this. 

The MDT will meet once they have all your results back and decide on a treatment plan for you and then things will honestly feel a bit better. Bowel cancer is notoriously slow growing and is very treatable. I was diagnosed 10 years ago and I’m still cancer free as are many others who’ve passed through the board and are now getting on with their lives.

Thanks for this yes they meet on friday , then give me an appointment date 

So the biopsies are inconclusive but im having surgery soon not sure on a date yet but I have a pre op on Wednesday x

3 weeks thats awful mine say inconclusive so im having it out, not sure on a date but im having a pre op on Wednesday

I have been told I have to have Immunotherapy before they can operate to try and shrink the tumour.  Have a meeting on 16th September so hopefully will get some more details.  Hope your operation goes well.

Hi there, new to the group. I have suffered with stomach pains, bloatedness when I ate and then started losing weight. Went to docs who said it was either IBS or my endo so suggested going on pill, I did not want the pill and knew it wasnt that but had tests and scans for endo etc. I also told him my father and two aunties had bowel cancer but he said nothing to that. Blood tests were found to be severely anaemic to which I said I had been for years but kept getting given iron tablets. Anyway forward on to another doctor who I spoke to and asked but why are you anaemic to which I said ive never had anyone find a cause so i dont know, he asked me if there was any bowel cancer and i said yes, he said i needed a FIT test. FIT was 66 so was called back in to which I was told not to worry loads of people have positive tests and are fine. Colonoscopy scheduled for two weeks and found 6 polyps, removed 5 and left one which was 40mm still nothing really said, big one removed two weeks later and noted no cancer evidence. Forward four weeks and i am being taken into a room being told they found cancer……so shocked! Had my CT the following day which was a week ago, MDT team met yesterday then called me to clinic which is Friday this week. Just cant believe it thought i was going to have a panic attack when she said it wasnt good news, no idea whats going to happen but even if its clear I want a resection now I just do not trust the ‘everythings fine’ anymore and the slim chance of cells being missed will always haunt me.
