Just back from Consultants appointment.  Hubby has had all the tests.  Bowel cancer, spots on the lung (found by CT scan) being referred to oncologist.  Bowel specialist wants to see hubby again in 3 months.  After chemo I assume to see if surgery is an option.

Just as I am starting to move forward after my surgery.  Somehow I think my ileostomy reversal will have to wait.  Although the waiting list is still quite long.  Won't be able to manage his chemo and my recovery at the same time!

I really don't know how Im going to manage.  I know it is selfish but really worry going forward.

  • Oh my. You've a lot happening.

You're husband's treatment is going to take a short moment to get going.

And it sounds like as a team you have an idea what to expect.

But if you want your reversal it needs to be done sooner. My husband had to push the consultants to keep it under the 6 month time frame (2014 rules)

I do hope that your husband is reaching out too. You'll both need some support in emotional and practical ways.

I manage by controlling the things I can. Be it the appointments, shopping for high calorie taxable food, cleaning Laughing , mixed in  with relaxing with a jigsaw to keep the hands busy.

One thing your are not is selfish.l

The news you have received is overwhelming. I'm second time around hearing it and fell to bits for a week.

Then you just start doing the appointments. And figuring out the new normal.

My husband was just 50 1st time. My 1st marriage. 4 years in. . something to fight for. Still fighting at 17 years.
