Hi,

I just joined the forum today. I've put my cancer journey to date in my profile biography. To begin with everything appeared to be going to plan but recent events have taken a downhill turn unfortunately. I'm about to have my first chemo appointment so very apprehensive at the moment.

  • Hi

I replied to your other post and saw from that and your bio that things have not gone to plan recently. I hope your appointment goes well today.

  • Hi Coddfish,

Prognosis is like that little hard rubber bouncy ball that throws all sorts of curves.

I also replied to Jacko. It may help you. We go live chemo next Tuesday. This time forever. But had 13 years before it came back. Officially. NHS covered up a  scan result from us.

Oncology will talk you through the plan and you'll be able to ask questions.

Feel free to ask about side effects and ways to deal with them. .

If its your first chemo Infusion treatment, take a soft throw type blanket to use as a pillow or cover if you end up under the air con .Take snacks and drinks. Something to read or listen to. And a friend if you can.

    You're in safe hands.

  • Hi  It’s Jacko who is having chemo, not me, but I am sure he will welcome your helpful advice. I am sorry your cancer is back and hope you also do well on treatment.

  • Hi Coddfish,

Yes, everything went as well as I could expect. My consultant was first class, she was very knowledgeable, experienced and above all else very straight talking (which I prefer!)

Looks like I'm starting off with FloFox delivered through a PICC which I think is pretty much standard for the type of cancer I have, and then take it from there.

Anyway, thanks for the helpful advice and info you gave me last night.

    Cheers....

  • Hi SierraOscar,

Thanks for your help last night.

I feel more emotionally stable tonight after a thorough talk-though with my consultant. Considering the state of mind I was in this time last week I find the fact that you're still here fighting after 13 years quite inspirational. Stay strong!

    Cheers....
