They just found a blood clot in my leg. Now on blood thinners. Could it have been caused by chemo? Keep reading it can but want to know if anyone else got this. So devastated
Hi Wish3a8504 I got one in each lung after a fortnights stay in hospital with a set back after my op. My surgeon seemed to say that it had probably been caused by the cancer but the consultant decided that, as I’d gof them while on blood thinners in the hospital, then I would have to stay on the medication for life.
I have read of people on here getting them during chemo so hopefully someone will pop along who’s been in a similar situation
Take care

Hi Wish3a8504
I had a pulmonary embolism after finishing my chemotherapy for a different cancer. My discharge notes from a&e say “chemo induced pulmonary embolism”. I was on blood thinners for about 5 months afterwards, but that was it. I didn’t need any further treatment, and this was in 2018.

Thanks for that Sarah. I am 3 weeks free from final chemo which was preventitive chemo. The doctor at the hospital said she didn't belive chemo causes bloodcclots butvof course it can! Why don't sone of them know this? It makes you more worried when they make such statements. Hope you are better now.xx
