Just joined the forum. My husband has just had high anterior bowel resection for colon cancer. He had T2 N1 M0. He was expecting it to be stage 1 so was devastated when it was Stage 3. It was made worse because he found out he had bowel cancer after we were preparing for his younger brother's funeral. He died within 2 weeks from primary renal cancer which had metastasised to brain, spine, liver and lungs.  So he was grieving from that loss straight into this. He has got a place on the TRACC C trial...randomised to the active group. He has found out he is ctDNA negative so is waiting to start capecitabine shortly. We feel like we are still trying to come to terms with everything at the moment and wondering how the capecitabine will affect him. We have not seen our grandson who lives overseas since October and he's wanting to visit but we're not sure whether to invite him for my husbands first rest week of his first cycle.

  • Hello  and welcome to the community, although sorry to hear what your family have been though. I am not from this group so not much help, but I noticed your post was slipping through without reply. By giving it a bump it will bring it back up and raise attention and hopefully someone with advice will help. I hope treatment goes well for your husband and I hope you se your grandson soon. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • I have just finished round 7 of 8 of capecitabine monotherapy and I've had virtually no side effects just a couple of pauses due to infection. Although it can cause problems it seems to.be less problematic than capox. Hope this helps.

  • That's really helpful thank you. He has just finished his second cycle. He is struggling with Hand foot syndrome at the moment. The doctor says it is unusual to get it so early and has paused his treatment to allow his feet to recover.

  • Many thanks for that.
