Hi Jamie79 and a warm welcome to the board. Yes the initial news is scary but once you have your treatment plan in place then things will honestly feel a bit better? 
Your team will discuss your treatment plan with you which can sound a little daunting at first but break it into stages and focus on each step at a time. I’m not sure what time your appointment is at but I’ve attached a link to a booklet that I was given at my first meeting which may give you a heads up?

We’re all at different stages of treatment and recovery on here and there’s lots of friendly advice and support. I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer in 2016 and I’m still ‘no evidence of disease’ as are the 2 ladies then I became good friends with during my treatment. 
The next year will be tough but it’s doable and we’re happy to help and support you through it

Hi Jamie and welcome to the group. I'm 2 weeks into chemoradiation treatment for rectal bowel cancer and, while it is a scary time, and the treatment isn't exactly fun, it is so much easier once a plan is in place and treatment is underway.  This is great group for information, support and generally making you feel like you can ask anything and get a helpful reply :)
