Hi sorry if this isn’t the right place to be posting as I haven’t been diagnosed, but I attended A&E last night for some symptoms and have been put on a 2WW suspected cancer pathway. I’m feeling quite nervous as I’ve just moved away from home and unsure if I want to tell my parents or family as I don’t want to worry them. The Dr in A&E said I’ll be getting an outpatient appointment through soon, does anyone have advice on the process? I’ve seen it’s likely that I will have a colonoscopy but does this always happen or does it depend on the first appointment? Thank you
Hi G12345 After I’d been referred by my doctor I had a hospital appointment where I was given a sigmoidoscopy but this only checked a small amount of the bowel whereas the following colonoscopy checked all of it and found a rectal tumour.
You’ve not said what your symptoms are but I personally would wait until you’ve had further tests as things like blood in the stool can be caused by other conditions such as colitis, diverticulitis, crohns etc.
Hope you get an appointment through soon
Take care
