Severe diarrhoea turns out not to be a side effect for me

Hi all

Thanks for all the support and well wishes.

I had severe diarrhoea and assumed it was a side effect. And even 2 visits to A and E I was told the same but kept me on imodium which was not working.

Well 4 days ago I got to see my oncologist. This was the breakthrough. I explained that it started on the last medication day of my first cycle. With this she took a much closer look at my blood test results only to find a stomach lining infection that imodium can not help.

I was put on iv antibiotics right away and kept in hospital for 3 days.

I am home now still on antibiotics oraly for a week but I am much better to the point I will have another blood test Wednesday and all being well Thursday should see me starting cycle 2.

Overall my bloods have been fine apart from renal function, but it has improved each day since the antibiotics.

All in all it was a rough 12 days, but I am getting there and again I appreciate all the support

  • That’s good to hear although disappointing that they didn’t spot the infection from the bloods earlier but onwards and upwards and hopefully your next cycle will go without any problems x

  • Thanks. Agree should have been spotted sooner but all I really care about is being home, on the mend and actually looking forward to my pre cycle 2 blood tests.

Hi they found the issue and it's not side effect related instead it's an infection of the stomach lining. Should be home in a few days and second cycle hopefully in a week or 2. Thanks for the kind wishes and support it means the world to me
