Hi everybody
I just joined. I went to my GP around 4 weeks ago , I honestly can't remember. Was given a FIT test and booked in for blood tests. Last week I was told about the FIT test being positive and was waiting for the colonoscopy. Then on Friday I was called once blood test results were back and I was told to go to A&E because of inflammation markers being so high. Very quickly I was in the CT scan and then that was it. Told bowel and liver cancer.
I'm waiting for MRI this week and more appointments
What is likely to happen next after all that? I'm a single parent and already struggling with fatigue , abdo pain, rectum pain, headaches , nausea and vomiting
Hi Happigaile140c9 ,
That sounds a scary experience.
First they will gather all the information they need through the MRI and other appointments, then your Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) will meet and formulate a plan of attack that's specific for you.
Normally you are then asked to come in to discuss the plan, although some will tell you over the phone (mine did at my own request).
The waiting is the worst part, once you have a plan it will start to feel a bit less scary and a bit more manageable.
Hopefully you'll get a plan of action shortly.
Best wishes
CerysM.
Thanks Cerys
Nothing terrible is going to happen in the next week and a bit that is going to impact the diagonosis, progression or treatment. If it is a tumour, they are very slow growing, and very treatable. Difficult I know, but this really is one thing that you don´t have to worry about. Once they have the MRI results, together with any other tests you´ve had done, the multi disciplinary team will meet (most meet on a weekly basis) and will come up with a bespoke plan for you. The waiting is horrible, but once you have that plan everything will be a lot less scary. You´ll know what you´re dealing with, what the experts have planned for you, and you´ll be in the care of an experienced and knowledgeable team.
Thanks.
I am increasingly symptomatic as in it's now a severe pain more often and getting harder and harder to pass stools. Should I see my GP in this time for pain relief ? I'm so lost
I think you have 3 choices to get help with relief,
1. GP… can you get an emergency appointment?
2. Go straight to A&E.
3. Get in touch with the MacMillan nurses on here and ask for advice.. I haven’t had to use it, but I believe there is a 24 hour help line.
