Positive Fit test 23.9

Hi Maxine8acfd7 and a warm welcome to the board. The positive fit test indicates that there has been blood found in your sample however this could be caused by polyps, diverticulitis, ibs, colitis etc. Only 1 in 10 colonoscopies results in a bowel cancer diagnosis and it is a very effective way of getting to the cause of the issue. If, and it is a very big if at this stage, it did turn out to be bowel cancer then there is a lot of treatment available with successful results.

Try not to stress about the what ifs and wait until you know what you’re dealing with (if anything) as worrying will cause lots of gurgling and niggles and then you’ll be in a spiral of more worry and more niggles

We are are in a similar position, I've also had a positive test and the what ifs scenarios are playing in my head.

I have my colonoscopy tomorrow so hopefully will get an indication of what the issue might be.

Try and stay positive.

Thank you I have had yo take time of work so I just burst out crying when I found out . The doctor worded it awful on my health records it said "patient aware it could be cancer and to take someone with her"

I am in the same boat - had a test reading 80.6 that came back today - waiting for the referral now

1. Its worrying isn't it? I have not heard anything yet but they said give it a week before I chase it up . Which takes me to next Monday. Thankfully my bloods they requested were all in range so 1 worry less. 

Some of the wording isn't great. I think it's just the mention of the word 'cancer' that is scary for people. Mine said the same. 

I agree they definitely need rethink how they put it 

How did it go?

I had my colonoscopy yesterday and fortunately it was clear, which I'm really pleased about.

My qfit was 365 so I was expecting something but I don't know what caused that score but they said no follow-up is required.
