I'm new to the group, I had a QFIT back in May with a score of 10 so for referred to colonrectal clinic for a follow-up and I did a further QFIT last month and it came back with a score in high 300s so I've been referred for a colonoscopy, so I'm feeling a bit anxious that I'm going to get some bad news. It's on my mind all the time so will be glad to get the results of the colonoscopy to get a bit more certainty.
Hi David6878ef7bb8 and a warm welcome to the group. A high qfit result means that blood has been detected in the stool however this does not necessarily mean it’s bowel cancer. Only 1 in 10 colonoscopies results in a bowel cancer diagnosis and the blood may be due to polyps, colitis, diverticulitis, ibd etc. The colonoscopy will give you a good idea as to the cause of the high reading so hopefully you’ll get an appointment through soon.
Please let us know how you get on?
Take care
Karen x
Thanks for your reassurance, I'm booked in for Wednesday so should know soon.
I had my colonoscopy and it is all clear, so unsure what caused the high qfit test score.
