Hello all,

I am new to this, first of all apologies for the way I will describe my present medical status... its is all new and Really scary to me.

Hearth attack back in December 2024, stents fitted to keep me alive, double bypass open heart surgery 4 weeks ago, recovering well so far. In the process to get me ready for this hearth surgery and after inumerous blood tests and CT scans.... Dr's found a stage3 transverse bowel cancer.

Since that day my life changed, is like I am stuck inside of a really Bad nightmare, not knowing what is coming and what to do with my life.

Consultant told me surgery it is a must for start but because of my serious hearth situation,  hearth is "the" priority... logically.

I cannot think properly anymore,  my work life is on a limbo mode, I don't know what is what.

Can someone please,  I will repeat please share some identical situation like mine and in relation to the cancer, what is normally the starting point.

Thank you all in advance.

  • Hello I hope my story will give you peace. In July 23 I had a sigmoidoscopy.  A 2cm cancerous polyp was found.  Prior to this since Nov 22 I was being treated for heart failure. Then had this 2cm cancerous polyp found. I was same as you was told no bowel cancer treatment till heart sorted.  I was quickly diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in Aug 23. A serious heart and lung problem. Before I could get the bowel operation for the cancer I had to get my heart/lung strong enough. I was put on a pump attached to me with intravenous meds to get me strong enough for the operation.  In Oct 23 I had an operation to remove the tumour. A 7 hour op. I came through this and had 4 month of chemotherapy in Jan 24. The pump was on all through this and alot of other heart medication. My story isnt the same as yours but similar when the heart is involved. I am ok and going through surveillance for bowel cancer. You have had a major operation but you have came through that. Bowel cancer is slow growing.  I was stage 3 also. Due my 2nd year ct scan. The mind is a powerful thing but try and stay positive. The Drs will do everything to get you better. A day at a time.

  • Hi Karen,

Thank you so much for your message. At the moment my biggest fear is if the Dr's are going to remove this cancer on time before any more damages to other internal organs, and obviously the chemotherapy is a big one for me too.

Terrorised with all this. Head bandageSleepy

  • Hello again

I was exactly the same. Thinking of the time between diagnosis of cancer and operation to get it out. I was assured it would be ok as bowel cancer is slow growing. I had 4 cycles of chemotherapy.  Still with the pump on too. My heart coped fine. It wasnt a walk in the park but was very much doable.  You will do it and you will get alot of support through it. I had clear scan a year later. Although I will be now under surveillance for a return. You have been through a heart operation for a reason to get your heart stronger.

  • Thank you for your message again.

I believe the biggest issue with me is that I am still in chock mode since that dreadful day the Dr's told me I have stage3 cancer on the transverse bowel and some signs of cancer in the prostate tooSleepy.

Is a lot to digest to be honest.

I have read your message a few times now and, you are a very brave person and that is really important when we are in the middle of all this scary lands of the unknown to me.

Keep well and really thank you for your messages.
