Hello, new to the forum. Had unexpected news of cancer being found in my appendix after emergency surgery for appendicitis.
the plan is to do a right hemicolectomy and test lymph nodes. Awaiting chest CT scan results. Had colonoscopy. Found some hyperplastic polyps for biopsy (which are usually benign so fingers crossed).
the cancer they found in my appendix is rated pt4a, which seems like I’m already in a more locally advanced stage.
im absolutely terrified. I’m a 38-year-old mum of two girls aged 10 and 8, and just can’t stop thinking about worst case scenarios.
wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or can offer any reassurance.
Hi JennyL141427b and a warm welcome to the board. It’s natural to be scared but try to remember that the surgeons do this day in and day out and you’ll be well looked after throughout. I had a different sort of operation but I’ve attached a link to a recent one about right hemicolectomy that might help reassure you
Take care
